Thats alright, BUT they should have more night matches during the year.. So to see if it'll draw a crowd on its own right

And allow sides a training run at The Dome before the event!!! Same with the TAC Cup. There were just two TAC Cup games played with the yellow sherrin this year, then they go and play a grand final under lights. It's not great to have almost the whole competition played in daylight, then play the biggest game of all in different conditions. I think for it to work in the VFL, they need Casey to play 3-4 night games a year, Bendigo a couple and even try and get access to a couple of other venues with lights!!!! And a final under lights at Casey too.
Peter Schwab has already indicted that the afl grand eve "VFL/TAC Cup Grand Final" experiment at Telstra Dome will continue in 2009 (probably 2010 as well).
How many failures are needed before they move the grand final back to a sunday at either Princes Park or a redeveloped North Port Oval? The Dome is not the place for VFL. How long people think there will be a night AFL grand final? I would say within the next 5 years. Go Borough in '09! Comeng

Gotta give the Dome more than one year, they need to promote the game more, and they need to consider a different time so its not caught up in the saturation coverage of the AFL Grand Final.

Interesting that the SANFL got 34,000 on Sunday to their Grand Final. And in WA there was a Mainwaring Tribute Charity game that drew 32,000 to Subiaco. Both nearly three times what we drew to the VFL/TAC Grand Final here. Perhaps evidence that when an event has a stand alone timeslot, rather than be stuck in between bigger and more popular events the fans will turn out.

And i am quite certain the advertisment would have been better too

I don't see the Dome experience as a failure, i couldn't see this years Grand Final attracting too many more regardless of day or ground. a few thousand less than last season, however, i would say a fair few Cat's fans got along to that. It is something to build on, and hopefully now, the VFL know that they have some work to do, and can't expect a flock of people to come on board because it's at the dome. Who is going to jump on a team for 1 day a year?? The idea has to be pushed all year. And of course better and more media exposure is a must but everyone (expect those is charge of it) already know that.

Quick Question - Did anyone tape/record the VFL Grand Final? I was just after a bit at the start if anyone is able to upload it online :) Pete (not enjoying the off-season - I want my footy!)
