Haven't heard much at all from Zebra land since last year. Any signings of note? Good numbers at training?
We used to have a stack of Sandy people on here...nobody got much news?
Yep...very very quiet....was hoping Yze would front up for Sandy..but he's off to Box Hill...looks like a very very young list again next year...lack of experience cost us dearly last season...unfortunately 2009 looks like being as bad or worse than 2008...a lot will depend on St Kilda's list and what injuries they get..
Sandy. The most successful club in the past 30 years
Hi Zeb, Very early to be writing off the Zebras. I dont think that you will miss much by not getting Yze, he's just about had enough.
I would not call 2008 a bad year the Zebras, they were well placed. The best part about this time of the year is that everyone is equal, so we are all a chance. As for St Kilda you would hope that they have got their act together and support Sandy a little bit better than they did with the Scorpions.
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
Sandy will have quite a few younger and Dragon players blended with St. Kilda new recruits this season. Doesn't look like any name players but hopefully a few of last seasons promising ressies will take up those vacant spots.
Some good news for the club looks like Roderick Crowe signing this season and not going o'seas so his experience will be vital for the Zebs.
Dont think this season will be anywhere nead as bad as 2008 The bottom fell out when Sandy decided to dump the fast fading bankrupt MFC in favour of the Saints.
St Kilda have a much better, experenced and more talented list than the Dees so I think Sandy will be the sleeper in 2009.I would also think the Saints fans will support the Zebras much more than "Toorak Tractor" brigade ever did.
FFS they dont even support their own team.
I hear what you're saying Digs...I just think that Yze would have added some much needed experience into a very young list...
Good news about Rod Crowe Zebra...what with Chad Liddell and Chris Lamb gone, keeping him is a real bonus...Ezra staying or heading North?
Billy...I just hope you're right...I'll be interested to see how Melbourne go this year..I can't see them going all that better than last year...I'm sure we'll get a lot more St Kilda supporters at Sandy than we did with Melbourne...we had a hard core group from Melbourne but St Kilda have way more supporters than Melbourne so hopefully they'll get on board...interesting that Paul Gardner the former Melbourne President is going to be helping Sandy with sponsorship etc this year so we snagged one supporter from the D's...and a pretty high profile one at that...looking forward to the 1st game against the Scorpions at Sandy...I'm tipping that Jack Watts will play for Casey for the bulk of the year...pity he's at Melbourne...he's a Sandy boy..well..Highett now...
Sandy have signed 23 of last years players including 5 who have played in the 3 last Zebra flags. Still have many young triers at training and who knows maybe a couple of new stars may appear.
The old concrete wall back of Can Hill is being replaced now and will be ready on season start as will the new flood lights. The social club will go through may changes with the biggest happening at the end of 2009 season in Oct. and ready for start 2010 season.
Sandringham unfortunately have lost another 1946 premiership player Doug Laver, our sympathy and respect go to his family.
53 Sandy players and recruits went on a camp at the weekend and one recruit did 104 pushups, maybe no world record but not bad anyway.
Ex Swans rookie and Casey player Stefan Garubba has joined the Zebras after failing to agree to terms with the Scorpions.
This is reported on today's edition of Inside Football.
New players at Sandy includes 3rd son of Carlton Wayne Dominator Johnston ,Clay joining his brothers Marc and Tomi. Would be a nice feat if one day they can all play in the same Zebra team.
