Northern Blues ?

I haven't seen Paul Amy's article this week, but it was discussed on SEN during Thursday nights show ...

Part One:

(Other parts - http://www.sportsentral.com/pro/main/Podcasts.aspx)

Very dissapointing if true. Surely that's the end of Preston Football Club in any meaningful fasion.

Stoney's right to be concerned about the future direction of the competition.

If the Mighty Zebs ever become the Sandringham Saints they'll be a member short. :(

Absolutey disgusting.
Carlton are maggots and I know old Preston people that say that they hate Carlton's guts. It is only a money thing that they are aligned.
They have not much funds otherwise they would be in the Diamond Valley League.
I cannot see that happening though.
Almost as sickening when Williamstown wore Collingwood jumpers or had that moronic maggot song.

Why don't clubs like Carlton and Collingwood GO TO HELL !!!

bullants

Haven't seen the story but have listened to the audio of the SEN discussion. Carlton try this on every year, so I'd like to think that Paul Amy has some serious inside information that Carlton and or that some on the current Bullants board want to see this happen.

Can the Bullants survive as a stand-alone club? It's not impossible if the right people are running the club. People shouldn't be intimidated by the thought of Carlton walking away from the alignment over matters that are trivial to most Carlton supporters.

The question that needs to be asked, is what does being Carlton exclusively bring to the Bullants that the club won't have if the alignment ceases? The answer is less than $120,000, that's what they exclusively bring to the Northern Bullants. [A $50,000 cash payment, a coach and medical staff] Factor in the support that stand-alone clubs get from the VFL and this figure may even be reduced to less than $100,000.

Granted finding an extra $100,000 plus $150,000 for players isn't easy but it's not impossible.

I would love to see the return of Preston Bullants playing all games at Cramer Street and wearing the traditional bullants guernsey.
As for Carlton they should merge their vfl team with Collingwood and be called Carlton/Collingwood maggots and play all games at Princes Park Tip.

Can the bullants afford to stand alone and have they enough of the old guard to run the club as a stand alone ?
I know there are plenty of old Preston players that are involved with local Diamond Valley Clubs like Bundoora.
I am sure if Preston were back as a stand alone these old players/officials would jump to it.
Still it would be a tough gig with more fundraising and recruiting but not impossible. All Northern Knights players not drafted can be enticed to the bullants.
Preston was competitive under Mark Williams as a stand alone team.
Carlton have always been and will always be vermons and scavengers. I say to Preston go it alone and get rid of the scum.

"The Carlton/Collingwood Maggots".
Doesn't that have a lovely ring to it!

BTW an article in my local paper says that Council are expected to vote this week in favour of Collingwood's return to Vic Park. Collingwood are proposing installation of demountable fences for VFL matchdays- not sure how Council will react to that, given the local support for an open venue.

Just the thought of the "Northern Blues" makes me sick. What is next? Changing one of their colours from red to blue?

Where there is money involved, nothing is sacred.
If they sell their name, they sell their soul.

I still hate the way Box Hill are the Hawks and Coburg the Tigers. As another Sandy supporter said if the Zebras become the Sandringham Saints well thats it for me. Its bad enough having to put up with the mongrels as a partner.

Just like North Ballarat who said they would never align, and whinging about the number of AFL listed players that were playing against them.

In typical Nth Ball fashion, thats all quickly forgotten and the convenience of the current is always what was considered best.

If ever there was a football club that sold out and forgot about what they have said in the past its your guys.

Don't start flinging any more stones at others.
