Williamstown did wear the maggot jumper against another maggot team called Carlton. This game was in 2000 and played at the MCG as a curtain raiser to Carlton v Collingwood. Andrew 'STOOGE' Maher called Williamstown Collngwood on several occasions. This game was covered by C7 sport.
He copped a backlash and a barrage full of abuse for it (rightly deserved).

Great to see 2 kids (23rd players) one from each club Williamstown (Dylan Joyce) and North Ballarat (Tyler George) both kick goals and look lively. Good idea on bringing up the kids with an opportunity as a 23rd player.
Aaron Edwards will be a major player come September. Williamstown battled hard but the roosters were a shade too strong when it counted. Williamstown did not have their strongest side howeve some of the Footscray players are not up to scratch.

Coburg must be gutted after again losing on the last kick of the day. They lost after Jarrad Grant kicked the sealer for the seagulls a few weeks back.
Coburg will have the cricket bats out now as to make the eight they would have to win all 3 games (have the bye in the last round) and rely on both Geelong and Sandringham not winning more than one game. Coburg have away games to Preston and Werribee.

I hope the Bullants give the cretins a hiding at Cramer Street later today.
Preston have a past players dy celebrating the 1969 and 1985 flags.

Went to a local game today East Ringwood v Lilydale at Hughes Park North Croydon. Interstingly East Ringwood had a past players day celebrating the 1984 EDFL flag and coachof that team was former Frankston and Dandenong player Ray Davies. He also played a few games for North Melbourne in the early 70s.
Lilydale wear the same jumpers as Williamstown and are as old as the seagulls. In fact I think Lilydale might be slightly older being found around 1874.

I also had a look at a local game at Hoppers Crossing after watching the the first half of the ABC TV game and they would have had many more people at the the game than at the depressing Northern Oval ( and most Werribee games Ive been to as well) and the atmosphere was 1000 times better!
They also have a very impressive licensed TAB pokies social club
Every time Nth Ballarat are on TV its sends the wrong message about our supposed #1 "State: League.Talk about hicksville.
At least the SANFL and WAFL play at some great grounds.

Williamstown FC was formed in 1864. Willy Joined the VFA in 1884 as the Villagers with the Blue and Gold and in 1888 merged with South Williamstown.
Ummmm Dale - Didn't Willy wear the Collingwood jumper on a limited number of occasions???
Good call Breaky,
Not to mention the players in Collingwood jumpers on the wall in the social club (Dog box). Singing the Collingwood song & having the cheek to put Williamstown's name on the premiership cup.
Give us a break Dale.

First game i've been to at North Ballarat for a number of years - crap result, but good game and good day out. Oval was in great condition, enjoyed couple of beers in the social club (which was serving Kangaroo pieces for lunch - alignment going well fellas !!) and was actually a good game.
Roosters too tall and held everything in the forward line in the last term. Ran the ball well all day, and Willy were ever only really playing catch up football. Thought we were a chance when levelled in last term, then Roosters added 4.3 without breaking a sweat. Umpiring was particularly bad, very inconsistent, impacting both teams.
Stayed in Maldon, and had a couple at the Black Duck in Campbelltown on the road back to Maldon after the game.

Glad you enjoyed the day JB.
Should have given me a hoy & I could have bought you a drink. Great that some people call it as they see it & recognise a great facility that looks after its customers.
The Black Duck what a classic country pub.

You're right digs, Willy supporters are notorious for having the most selective memories in the competition.

They like to forget that they slummed it in 2nd division in the 60s and 70s for quite a few years like poor old Box Hill.

They like to forget that they didn't win a game - in any grade - in 1995.

They like to forget that they insulted their Club's proud history by wearing Collingwood jumpers.

They like to forget that Collingwood won the 2003 VFL Premiership, the Magpies just invited West and Lloyd along to make up the numbers. So severe was the embarassment to the VFL that the 12-10 rule for FInals matches was introduced immediately.

Digs, i didnt plan well, and it crossed my mind at half time to try and find you - maybe next time. All (ch)okes aside, maybe we'll catch up come finals time.
Wal was a bit distracted with the races in the Black Duck, but enthusiastically pumped the social club before we left.
