Good call Breaky,
Not to mention the players in Collingwood jumpers on the wall in the social club (Dog box). Singing the Collingwood song & having the cheek to put Williamstown's name on the premiership cup.
Give us a break Dale.
You're right digs, Willy supporters are notorious for having the most selective memories in the competition.

They like to forget that they slummed it in 2nd division in the 60s and 70s for quite a few years like poor old Box Hill.

They like to forget that they didn't win a game - in any grade - in 1995.

They like to forget that they insulted their Club's proud history by wearing Collingwood jumpers.

They like to forget that Collingwood won the 2003 VFL Premiership, the Magpies just invited West and Lloyd along to make up the numbers. So severe was the embarassment to the VFL that the 12-10 rule for FInals matches was introduced immediately.
So you dont like Willy hey Mustang. Surprised you forgot to mention the 14 goals in the opening term of 1978, and the 1989 qualifying final too. No selective memory here mate, i remember them all, good and bad.

First game i've been to at North Ballarat for a number of years - crap result, but good game and good day out. Oval was in great condition, enjoyed couple of beers in the social club (which was serving Kangaroo pieces for lunch - alignment going well fellas !!) and was actually a good game.
Roosters too tall and held everything in the forward line in the last term. Ran the ball well all day, and Willy were ever only really playing catch up football. Thought we were a chance when levelled in last term, then Roosters added 4.3 without breaking a sweat. Umpiring was particularly bad, very inconsistent, impacting both teams.
Stayed in Maldon, and had a couple at the Black Duck in Campbelltown on the road back to Maldon after the game.
Glad you enjoyed the day JB.
Should have given me a hoy & I could have bought you a drink. Great that some people call it as they see it & recognise a great facility that looks after its customers.

The Black Duck what a classic country pub.
Digs, i didnt plan well, and it crossed my mind at half time to try and find you - maybe next time. All (ch)okes aside, maybe we'll catch up come finals time.
Wal was a bit distracted with the races in the Black Duck, but enthusiastically pumped the social club before we left.
I am pretty easy to find at Eureka Stadium or anywhere else for that matter in Ballarat.
I reckon VFA would absolutely love the BLACK Duck.

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

Digs,

I went to Maldon for the Folk Festival a few years ago and loved the place. Some of the old pubs in the bush are relics. I can't say I have been to the Black Duck but love the old traditional pubs in the country.
Williamstown will be playing a few games in the country next season as Point Gellibrand will be out of bounds. I wonder which country venues but I guess that there will be one game at Reid Oval Warrnambool and maybe two or three others in the bush somewhere. Morwell is another new venue I will check next week.
Digs check the bush footy website which is a classic. It has the colours of each Victorian bush club as well as a few photos and other info.

Think you'll find Willy wore the collingwood strip in 2001, as they were partially aligned with Footscray in 2000. It was that awful jumper with the bird stretced across it, and even the Eddie bleats about never changing their jumper, their afl team DID wear it a few tims.

The Andrew Williams rule, who'll ever forget that one? The 2003 season, Stevey Kenna's breakout year, struggling Benny Neagle, Tommy Bayford, Pugs! Had em worried in the 3rd quarter.

And yes, before anyone has a go, Box Hill did have 15 or so Hawthorn players in our '01 flag, but at least they'd pretty much been playing all year, none of this D9 Jarrod Molloy bobbing up, regaining match fitness for the AFL granny, whilst sinking his former club to a grand final defeat! Just wasn't right.

BRING BACK THE GOOCH!!!
