In today's paper he's quoted as saying he wants the VFL season to start earlier and the finals to be played three weeks earlier so that it doesn't impact on the VFL team when the AFL team dont make the finals.
Mr German, you're not serious surely? Just because he works for an AFL club that treated Casey with disrespect by putting so many players in cotton wool and causing Casey to be whipped beyond belief yesterday, doesn't mean the whole VFL competition should be turned on its head. I hope it was a spur of the moment comment made out of frustration and frustration only.
Of course, in three years when Melbourne are in the AFL finals and Casey aren't, the Demons will probably be sooking that there isn't a team for their fringe players to play in and stay match fit. Can't have it both ways!!!
AFL clubs want their VFL team to be playing if the AFL team is in the finals. By shifting the season it would have a major impact on that.
