I believe Kenna may not play for the Hawks. We'll see on game day.

By the way, I might see if I can take the roving radio microphone for a walk pre-game tomorrow and have a live-to-air chat with some of our fine Port supporters here!

Pete.

Hey Brekky DJ,
Come over near the Beer Booth, you'll find quite a few of the Port guys that are on this site in that area.
We're looking forward to a big game!

GO THE BOROUGH!

Note that port has nath batsanis, steve brewer, pat hasset, John baird and Bo Nixon (haw) playing for them tomorrow, all former whitehorsemen! What are we, ports feeder team?!? Can't figure how this ones gonna pan out, but I do know that Brendan Bolton has them playing for each other. Players like Curnow, iles so important, and cam pederson has a big job ahead of him. Go stangas!

Great win by the Borough! Unfortunately John Baird's season is over with an injury.

A truly great game of VFL football, high standard, close all day, fantastic skills and spectacle; the team that lost was always going to be stiff. A good crowd gave it real atmosphere. Well done to Port.

The only thing that marred the day was the MOST INCOMPETENT, BAFFLING, HOPELESS DISPLAY OF UMPIRING I HAVE SEEN IN YEARS. I'm not going to suggest (like a goose in another thread) that they cost Box Hill the game but, fair dinkum, they set a record by being booed off the ground by supporters of both teams, which peferctly summed up their performances, particularly No 4 (Jennings) and No 8 (Gleeson). If that is the cream of the VFL umpires on display in a final, FFS, the competition is rooted.

Looking on the bright side, a weekend in which (i) Willy seniors go out in straight sets, (ii) Willy reseves go straight out and (iii) Box Hill reserves win a preliminary final by 14 goals isn't a total disaster.

As a neutral watcher I thought the umpires were not good but didnt realy effect the result.I did like the way they let the play flow as much as posible. Maybe the faster pace of a finals game found them out.

What a game! If you haven't had a chance to see or listen to the game, you missed an absolute classic. Port looked gone, when Box Hill skipped away to what looked like a possible winning margin as the clock ticked over into time-on in the final quarter. But the Borough responded, great goals to Bonaddio and BoG Cory McGrath putting Port in front 28 minutes into the quarter and an agonsing struggle in the final minutes saw Port hang on for a 4 point win.

Unfortunately for the Borough, Captain John Baird suffered an achilles tendon strain that will see him miss the remainder of the season.

Fanning was outstanding in the ruck today, shouldering a heavy load.

The song was loud and proud in the rooms in one of the best wins in recent memory.

Dissapointing that some disgruntled Box Hill supporters decided to take to 'THE MIGHTY BOROUGH' banner at the Bolte Bridge end. After some patch-up work it should reappear next week with a bit of luck.

You called it in one on Jennings #4. He's been woeful in the last month from memory. Something tells me he 'umpired' himself out of prelim contention today.
