Grand Final Advertising

I have to admit I had a laugh this morning when reading the Herald Sun. I saw a little, corner page ad for the VFL Grand Final on Friday, blink and you'll miss it sort of thing it was, tucked in the corner of the page. Then I flick back a few more pages and see a FULL PAGE ad from the Melbourne Storm promoting their Prelim Final on Saturday night.

It just highlighted the contrast between how AFL Vic do it, and how others promote themselves. Everything AFL Vic does is on the cheap.

Make no mistake, the NRL game on Saturday will eat into the VFL's crowd, very few people will dip into the pocket for both games.

No effort at advertising at all.

Watching the Back page on Fox Sports at lunch time and some fat prick reckons storm are playing sunday because Victory have a game at etihad friday night.

You reckon a sports show could at least get it right - oh well ....

Dont forget the thugby club is 100% OWNED by News Corp/Hun so thats why they promote it to death and who said its a level playing field out there in PR land. The HUN should put the 'paid advertisment " tag on all stories about the Storm - talk about conflict of interest!

Went to the show yesterday and they were giving out $5 off adult ticket vouchers at the State Government Information Centre, everyone second person had one.

Whether or not they are going to use them is a different story altogether.

The AFL run the show now and AFL Grand Final tickets are that expensive that your AFL Grand Final ticket should give you free access to the VFL Grand Final.
$200 plus should get you more than 4 quarters of footy.
There's probably thousands of people that would go if their AFL ticket got them in for nothing.
At the end of the day we want bums on seats.

Great emblem rooster.
They would be hoping for 15,000 becuase if they don't get at least 15,000 this will be the last time the GF will be held at the Docklands.

The vouchers given away will probably not count for many turning up.
Even if they gave them away you might only get a small ratio that would be bothered.
Who will be there ?
It will be old Preston, roosters, Carlton, North Melbourne supporters, old vfa nuts like myself, footy followers including the ones that want a fix and maybe a few just deciding to turn up something to do. Throw in a few from the tac cup that will hang around.
Not forgetting club officials and stalwarts of course.

Maybe the digruntled fans that failed to get a AFL GF ticket might turn up ??

We will find out the answers tomorrow night.

Digs how many busloads are coming from Ballarat ?
