Dolphin, as you would know, a lot will depend on how many games are in the season. But I imagine the club will save a fair bit on coaching particularly player payments next year given a couple of big names who have left, enough to cover the $50K.
No problem with that champ.
Misses the point though.
I'd like some names as well...you guys seem really confident that most of those named players will stay, so let's hear them.
Frankston can't afford to lose some of their experience, nor can they afford to lose some of their up and coming talent. Marigliani and Hebberd might well get rookie listed, but that is out of Frankston's hands.
If they lose those two, plus any of that group which includes Magner, Murray, P Kennedy and Pollard the Dolphins are rooted. But as much as anything they need to keep the likes of Rogasch, Purves, Nicholls cos they all have some talent.
So how about some names Paul and Dolphin - whose staying?
As you would know Footyman, whereas recruits sign contracts at this time of year, most returning players don’t sign contracts until the new year, so it is hard to make concrete statements until then.
But the ones I listed are the only senior players that have left (Berry, Winterton, Marigliani, Dore, Barry and Conroy, who left mid-season), and close to every other senior player from 2009 will be at pre-season.
Given that after 2006 20-25 senior players left the club before pre-season, that is a pretty good result.
Looks like the Dolphins are resigning big blond ruckman Russ Gabriel up again after he had a successful season with Doveton.
Being only 20 years old Russ has plenty of potential to further develop and now knows about what is required in fitness to be a VFL ruckman. Good catch for Goosey.
I thought Russell Gabriel was very good in 2008. He stood out for Doveton this year and will be good to see him back at Kars Street. He will improve further as he is still a bit raw but is lion hearted.
Most impressive thing about Gabriel is he made promises both to Doveton and Frankston a year ago and has stuck to them. That is quite rare for a young footballer of his age. Great that he is a Dolphin again – a genuine physical presence even though not the most skilled player.
Goosey is trying to get a lot of local talent, to join the Dolphins for next year both senior and younger players, this would be to compensate with the departures

The only way to go Stevo.
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
Dolphins only ever really get local talent!! Recruits from out of the MPNFL area are a rarity.

That is not quite true...it may be a recent thing but it's not all that long ago that Frankston were throwing the cheque book around
