Lists of ex-players

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a history of Melbourne FC (http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com) and part of that is a list of all our players who have spent time at VFA/VFL clubs (http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com.au/tiki-index.php?page=VFA).

On the Sandringham website I discovered an unbelievable list of every player to have ever played for the Zebras and it was a big help in plugging some gaps. Does anyone know if any such lists exist for the other clubs? It's so much easier than scouring old newspapers.

Much appreciated,

Adam

My records show that former Melbourne Players who played with Camberwell between 1937 and 1990 are;

G.Walley 1980,1. Cam - 5 games
T.Flower 1980,1. Cam - 15 games
N.Chamberlain 1978-81. Cam - 71 games
R.Smith 1977,8. Cam - 37 games.
R.Stewart 1970,1. Cam - 32 games.
T.Mountain 1958. Cam - 8 games.
G.Mason 1952-59. Cam - 126 games.
K.McKaige 1955. Cam - 6 games
F.Harley 1940. Cam - 17 games

Hope this helps.

Go Cobras Go and away we go.

That's a great help, thanks very much.

Not sure where I got Dave Bedford from on my list. I usually attach the sources to each page if they were newspapers so I can double check - he must have signed but not played seniors.

Also George Lenne is listed in the Encyclopedia of AFL players as having been recruited from Camberwell in 1941. He mustn't have played seniors either.

I was a childhood Cobras fan. Suffice to say it was unpleasant in the 80's and my family refused to ever take me.

My records only show where a player came from another VFL/VFA Club. There is no record of where players moved onto.

I show a player Lennie (no initial) played 24 games in 1938 & 1939.

You are right about D.Bedford, he was ex Melb and played 35 games in 1951/2. I had missed him last night when quickly researching to answer your question.

Cheers.

Cheers Cobras and North Port. Much appreciated, it's a nice touch to be able to add how many games players turned out for in the VFA.

I've now got those records for Camberwell, Port and Sandy (they have an unreal list on their website) players.

I know a Bruce Fordyce who claims to have played seniors for Sandringham. However he is not on the list.

My father in law played for Camberwell...would have been pre WW2....played a season at Hawthorn as well

Sandy. The most successful club in the past 30 years

Cobrascorer,no mention of any Bruce Fordayce playing senior footy may have played reserves. Other players have said they have played senior Sandy footy but the records do not show them so maybe only played ressies.
