(1) If the defunct VFA clubs were around in the current day and had to be aligned, the possible alignments could be as follows ?
Northcote- Fitzroy
Geelong West- Geelong
Brunswick- North Melbourne
Oakleigh- Richmond or Melbourne
Prahran- Melbourne
Camberwell- Hawthorn
Mordialloc- Melbourne
Dandenong- Richmond
Caulfield- Richmond, Melbourne or St Kilda
Berwick ?
Kilsyth ?
Sunshine- Footscray
Yarraville- Footscray
Waverley- Essendon ?
Moorabbin- St Kilda ?
Looking at this do you think more Melbourne players played VFA than other clubs ? This is only a wild guess. Billy you might know this.
(2) Or maybe another way to look at it
Richmond players mainly went to Oakleigh, then maybe Dandenong or Frankston (90s)
St Kilda players mainly went to Sandy or Frankston. A few to Caulfield.
North Melbourne more likely to be at Brunswick
Melbourne to either Prahran, some at Caulfield or Sandy
Majority of Geelong players to Geelong West
Majority of Essendon to Coburg
Majority of Collingwood to Preston
Footscray players to either Williamstown, Sunshine or Yarraville
Fitzroy mostly to Northcote
