One thing about the round was that, like it or not, with Karmichael Hunt and Brad Johnson playing, there was plenty of coverage for the comp in the press.
Johnson played well, without being dominant for 'town. However, rather than just playing for himself, I thought he interacted well with the Willy listed players and provided some good leadership.
Extremely poor showing by Peter German in todays press.
Chance lost for Williamstown
If you mean in the above article, then yes, extremely bad form to openly criticise your own players. No mention of the umpiring.
BTW, no sour grapes here as I tipped NB to win. I would normally have tipped Williamstown, but they always lose, so I tried some negative influence, and success. 7/7 so couldn't ask for more. (No, I don't tip in this forum, just one amongst family. I have 50/63 at this point of the season - 8 ahead.)
I have 64 from 63 in my home tipping comp !!!
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
North Ballarat Willy was an excellent game, just what you would hope to see from 2 of the top 3 teams.
Roosters had 6 behinds on the board before finally snagging its first, but then fought slowly back into the game.
Last quarter lead changed 3 times late in the game as first NB pulled about 9 clear, then Willy got 3 in quick succession then NB the last 2.
Hard tackling, and good one on ones, the difference ultimately was NB's forward line was strong and marked well. Both teams moved the ball fast from end to end, which was a good effort in the slippery conditions.
The game was over-umpired - both teams were hard at the ball, so plenty of physical clashes and the umpires just frankly couldnt keep up.
Digs, did look for you after the game (VFA can attest to that) but ended up having a kick on the ground with my son. However, did polish off a couple of cold ones in the warmth of your social club during the day. Maybe next year !
Well done JB on an unbiased report. On the money mate.
Very sorry I missed you on Saturday. VFA did tell me that you were still upstairs, but not knowing who I was loooking for made tracking you down a little difficult.
Looking forward to meeting you next time.
Your tipping is unofficial Dale. You are not part of the official tipping comp so the gun VFL tipster who leads a field of over 100 tipsters is Rick Dennis. Of course you are invited to test your vfl tipping skill next season if you wish. You got to be in it to win it !!!
Dale would only be in your tipping comp if it was free vfa.
Remember this is the bloke that wont buy a Sunday newspaper.
But sits back and expects everybody to post stories online so tightass can read it for free.
By the way dale thanks for supporting the North Ballarat footy club.
Not sure how we ever survived without you.
Just remind me how you've ever supported us ???
I have 64 from 63 in my home tipping comp !!!
In MY comp you get 2 for the draw.
It's good like that, you can make your own rules & put the tips in on Monday morning.
Dig's maths were perfect when he filled out his travel allowance claims; there were never errors that worked against him.
Your always welcome to join the official vfl tipping comp for 2012 Dale.
Roughly from over 100 tipsters you would get almost a third that have a collect throughout the year. Whether it is the aggregate score, seven winner jackpot or the top three seasons placegetters. The leading tipster in the official tipping comp is Rick Dennis with 49 winners after 9 rounds and leads by two tips.
I have tipped 43 winners for the season. Probably lost a few times tipping Werribee as I thought they might be better than they are. I might give them one more chance this week against Coburg, maybe ??
Tempting to go for the dolphins this week against GC. If they can show a similar effort they have shown over the last two weeks plus a little bit extra in the second half they could win their second game for the season. I would not be surprised if they did.
