Pretty sad as Preston have been a great old club of the VFA.
I would like to see that stupid name of Northern Bullants revert back to Preston the Bullants and play all games at Cramer Street !!!

Sadly the current people in charge of AFL Victoria (sic) have little or no respect for the wonderfull history and legacy of the VFA and its clubs including all the current AFL clubs in Victoria and seem to want ot obliterate its memory as mach as posible. What a lot of people seem to conveniently forget is that if it wasnt for the VFA being formed in 1877 Australian football wouldnt exist.

A bit like having the christian bible without Jesus.

Billy and VFA, agree with you. To me its about maintaining the fabric of the club, and its hard enough doing that in an alignment, let alone doing it when you dont train or play at your traditional home ground and supporter base. Of the aligned clubs Sandy, Willy and Box Hill crowds are ok if not what they once were (and there was terrific Seagull support at Ballarat the other week), but there is at least a link to the area which helps attract support.
In fact Billy, Sandy has a very high profile in Bayside with people I talk too - problem is getting them in the ground on match day. (I'm already recruiting people to attend the upcoming game that Willy has at TBO - they'll probably all follow Sandy to wind me up, but I dont care, just want to see a decent crowd).

Its likely Jason Akermanis will be playing for Willi against Sandy so that should get a few theatre-goers through the gate.

In regard to the other matters raised above, you would probably recall when Ken Gannon was first in charge of the competition. He obviously picked up a Melway & decided that, because Willi & Port were close geographically, then that would make a sensible merger & the new 'entity' could be called Yarra. Absolutely no concept of the tradition & historical rivalry that exists between these two clubs (akin to proposing a merger between Carlton & Collingwood) & foolhardy in the extreme to think that anybody would be remotely interested in following a team called Yarra.

After that dismal failure he then suggested that Willi might like to merge with Werribee .... no f#%king idea these blokes, and how much dough are they on???
