Seniors 1st Qualifying Final - Williamstown vs Port Melbourne

Port Melbourne should rate themselves big chances to knock off the highly favoured Seagulls. Injuries and a possible suspension for Ben Hudson, means that the Western Bulldogs could have a few new additions to the side this week, somewhat weakening the VFL minor premiers.

Port are often criticised that they can't play on big grounds. However, Port's record at the City Oval, Box Hill is a good one, and the ground holds no fears for the Borough.

Can Port stop Matt Little and Pat Rose? We'll have to wait until Saturday to find out, but don't be surprised if the Borough change their traditional back-half setup somewhat to try and negate these two outstanding Williamstown goal-scorers.

saw Matt Little with his hand iced-up after Saturday's game, hope its nothing too serious ..... Little, Markovic & Brett Johnson should all feel at home at City Oval having played previously with the Mustangs :-)

Let me tell you, Williamstown simply look awesome on Saturday.

The disposal of the ball was a level above everyone else in the comp.

If they continue to play like that, I cannot see anyone getting near them.

THOUGH... it is that time of year Williamstown choke! ;)

Assuming Ben Hudson gets rubbed out.. I wonder who Rocket Eade would bring up? Roughhead or Minson.

Did McLaren play in Ports twos?

According to The Age, this is the TV game on Saturday, while the Roosters v Casey game is the TV game on Sunday.

It was suggested 3 months ago that whoever beats Williamstown will be premiers. Must say though Port are going to get them at their most vulnerable with many injuries to the Bulldog list.!!!

Come on Digs you cant blame injuries mate. They have 60 odd blokes on their VFL list to choose from, topped up with another 12-14 AFL guys every week.

Port are in great form and have building up to this. Willy wouldnt have come across many sides with as much midfield depth as Port.

And not just 1 or 2 of there backmen will be tested either. Port has 3 genuine key forwards in Galea, Sinclair and Bonaddio as well as some smalls who love to kick a goal. They will be put to the test.

This should be one hell of a game.

Id like to hear from any doggie fans who they think from Willy will replace Cooney, Johnson and Morris?

Ben Hudson did not get rubbed out. McLaren played in the twos and got 2 goals.

Port will go into this game as the clear underdog.

Burra,
Never at any stage did I blame injuries !!!
All I said was that Port will get them at a good time with the Bulldogs injuries & possible suspensions.
The Bulldogs have had a very good run with injuries this year & sometimes a few around finals time can upset the apple cart.
They are still flag favourites for mine .

The dogs also have a night match this saturday. Will they take an emergencies?? Or will they possibly play someone for a half in the VFL then take him off the ground incase he is needed at AFL level that evening??

I think the pressure is really building on Williamstown. Red hot favourites who have won 7 of there last 8 games by 10 goals or more. They have basically been on top of the ladder all season and every so called expert expects them to easily win the flag.

We all know about there recent finals record and if Port can get off to a good start, alot of doubts could enter the minds of the seagull players.

A loss in this match for Williamstown would be an absolute disaster......

Burra,
All the so called experts are going on is that they have clearly been the best side all year.
A loss in ANY finals match is a disaster !!!!
