AFL Grand Final - Collingwood v St Kilda

If you don't care.. then please don't reply.

For those of you that do take an interest.. Care to post your thoughts on the game?

I really can't see St Kilda winning. A lot would have to go wrong for the Pies (their innacuracy woes included) to drop this one. The Saints will have to play out of their skin to get over the line imo.

There are late showers forecast, but I don't think it will have a big impact on the standard of the game.

I was surprised that Davis and Presti were recalled. Presti goes to ? Kosi? I can't be the only one that thinks Leon Davis has blown his chance on several big game occasions.

Baker in for the Saints is a gamble. Can you come in without match practice or games at some level and expect to make an impact?

I reckon it will be the Pies by about 6 goals.

I'm hoping St Kilda win simply cos I hate Collingwood..and that's mainly to do with their feral supporters...and of course the Sandy connection with several of their players having played one or more games with the Zebras this year

On form etc you'd have to go for Collingwood....

But a couple of years ago Geelong were hot favourites against Hawthorn...

Last year Geelong thrashed Collingwood in the prelim and just got over the line against St Kilda

All the form leading up to the GF goes out the window now...anything can happen on the day

So...

I have tipped Collingwood by 13pts.

They have been the best all year and if they play like they did in the 1st half last week they should win.

the AFL are predicting a crowd of around 101,000 for the game.

I will be there for my 14th grand final in 15 years (13th in a row). Can't wait just over 20 hours to go.

Robbo you are a bit behind me. This will be my 43rd consecutive GF since 1969. In the days of Kevin Bartlett with hair.
St Kilda will win its second flag (sorry Billy).
There are many omens that point to a saints win.
1965-66 last 2 GFs in a row a win and a loss. 44 years between flags for Geelong 63/07 and saints 66/10 ? New Orleans Saints last year won the NFL flag for the first time in 44 years. Latrobe won the flag in Tassie last week the first in 27 years (Barry Breen's number in 66). There are heaps of other omens.
Besides this the loss last year will have them eager for a win. Geelong and West Coast have bounced back in recent years to win after a loss in the previous years GF.
They will tend to play a lot more keeping's off than Geelong did. They have also a 11/2 win/loss record against the top four last 2 years. They have bought Baker in for a job on Didak. Collingwood have bought in Presti who will be no match for Riewoldt who could be a match winner. They have also bought in Leon Davis who will be as bad as Ryhs Shaw was in the last GF for Collingwood. St Kilda has a better balance side and have been going along quietly and all the hype is with Collingwood. Jones will be the run with man on Swan and can keep him quiet. Gardiner and Kosi will be hard for Collingwood to hold as will Riewoldt. Milne and Schnieder could quick a few. Their midfield is ok too.

Collingwood runners up in 1960/64/66/70/77/79/80/81/02/03 and again in 2010 !!!!

I have seen a few cars on the road with stickers Collingwood Premiers 2010 what clowns and morons. To the Collingwood tools who spent a fortune for GF tickets I hope the day is a miserable one on the scoreboard and GO SAINTS !!!!!!

ps I am a Richmond supporter and also barrack for the team that plays Collingwood. Sorry again Billy it is either me or you so I will get in first as I know your fondness (lack of) for the red, white and black.

Enough of my rubbish time to hit the sack as I have to catch the 5.40am train tomorrow as I have to queue up at the MCC members. Going to be a long day tomorrow as it usually is. Had a long day last Sunday VFL GF.

Amazing finish. I was also at the 1977 North v Collingwood draw. St Kilda were terrible in the first half but were by far the better in the second half. Who will it favour next week ? I think StKilda might have a better frame of mind to win.

I hope they never ever change the rule not to replay a Grand Final. That is why our great game of Australian Rules is unique.

Could not think of anything worse like five minutes of extra time. A draw is a draw and should always be replayed. There have only been 3 draws in Grand Finals 1948/77 and yesterday.

Final word for next week St Kilda will be a bit more hardened and tougher which will help them them get over the line. Nick Maxwell you are a sook and with your weak mental frame of mind it will help the saints for next week.

Dale I thought I was going to have finally a lazy Saturday afternoon for a change. That all went by the wayside around 5.30pm on Saturday.
Third draw in a GF since 1897. The old VFA has had only one draw which was the Williamstown v Moorabbin clash back int he 50s.
How ironic that Collingwood one win in the last 12 GFs and St Kilda one GF win ever both couldn't win. I think the saints look mentally stronger and will prevail. I doubt if it will be close this time.

I was at the Moorabbin Willy drawn. It was '58 or '59. Same sense of nothingness. At the replay Willy won easily
