Progressing slowly, but surely.
Grandstand roof is now off.
I'm really looking forward to seeing a revamped Burbank Oval. If someone is travelling past the ground, take some photos please!

NorthPort, I placed a grainy pic of the grandstand on here that i took with my mobile phone thru the gate a week before Xmas http://www.vflfooty.com/?q=node/6681
However, i'll make an effort to get down to the ground, maybe this weekend weather permitting, and take some proper snaps, i'm interested to see the progress myself.
Meanwhile, there are plenty of pics on the club website
there are more pics here also
It's been a while since someone raised the roof at Point Gellibrand ;) Too bad it's the off-season! :p
But seriously, it's great to see these works under way.
It's a massive redevelopment of the Willy ground...not only the grandstand but the surface as well...
I hope they take full advantage of the sea views when redoing their social club...
Williamstown is the most picturesque ground that I've ever seen...very few football grounds of any code are that close to the sea...
Sandy. The most successful club in the past 30 years
The Age on Thursday 3rd February had an item about a bunker find at the Willy ground. Despite the sign "Home of the Seagulls" the work at the ground is wholly for "the local cricket club's $8 million expansion".
The link to the item is http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/bunker-find-a-window-into-history-of-t...

And do you know how much the Williamstown Cricket Club is contributing towards the '$8 million expansion'???? NIL, zilch, nothing, zip .... as usual
Is finding this bunker going to delay things ?

If you follow the link to the article in The Age it states 'The works, which will not be affected by the bunker's discovery, were put on hold to allow Hobsons Bay Council and Heritage Victoria to investigate the origins of the bunker', but then it goes on to say 'Brian Haynes of the Williamstown Historical Society said he hoped the bunker find was the first of several discoveries on the site, with records suggesting the current grandstand was built over ready issue rooms and ammunition magazines.' So if they start digging up the area or finding other antiquities then it may well delay the project.
