Televised Games By Channel O in the VFA days.

Are any of you old VFA buffs aware of what the roster was for the old Sunday afternoon games regarding the telecasts.
Did they share the games between the clubs at their respective home grounds or were the majority of games telecast from the Junction oval & Toorak park.
Having watched some of those old games live (When the reception was OK) I can't remember too many of the other grounds. ???

When St.kilda moved to Linton st. Moorabbin 1964 and Sandringham used the Junction oval for it's home games on Sundays cannot remember too many tv braodcasts from there,so possibly matches were spread around home grounds as today.

Not sure how many games were televised in 1970 from the Junction Oval when the zebras played there for a season.
Maybe one or two. Games were evenly spread my memory.

Between myself and Station Hotel we intend to compile a full list of every VFA game that has been televised from 57 to 63 ABC, 67 to 86 channel 0/10 and from the abc from 1987 to current.
Station Hotel has done an excellent job and has so far compiled a list for quite a few of the seasons including the 1972 list.

VFA, Station Hotel - let me know if you need any help with the project or if you have any gaps as I may be able to help from all the old records i have. As a last resort, newspaper TV guides would help (i recall the Age Green Guide always listed the game), however that would be a labourious process.

They used to also televise practice games, and for instance a Preston vs Sandhurst practice game was televised at the start of 1973.

Digs, i recall the coverage in the 1970's started at 1.45, with interviews, team line ups etc. You would get progress scores from all other games across the bottom of the screen. On the odd occassion they would have cameras at other games and cross over. This happened in 1976 when Frankston and Mordialloc were undefeated on top of Div 2, so they would cut over to that game during the coverage of the Div 1 game.
By the late 1970's they started the Dandy Dollar Dash at half time, and also mark of the week.

VFA, Channel O also televised the following Div 2 games at the start of the season
Round 1 Frankston v Waverley
Round 2 Northcote v Sunshine

Looking at the Div 1 games, there appeared to be method to the scheduling and Channel O made an attempt to show big games. Round 17,like you said, was the famous relegation battle at Sandy, and Round 18 Caulfield and Coburg were playing for the final spot in the final 4.
First game of the year was Brunswick unfurling its 1975 Div 2 flag, and Round 2 was the Roosters unfurling its 1975 Div 1 flag. Not surprising that they showed both Dandy v Port and Geel W v Dandy games during the year.

I played in that game for Box Hill.  If anyone has a copy of the telecast that would be much appreciated.

That would be great as would the first ever vfa game televised in colour a week earlier between northcote v sunshine in 1975. Very small chance that this was kept at national archives. What a pity that the footage between 1967 and 1979 not including grand finals are rare. Unfortunately they were either taped over or you might find some as landfill at mahoneys road oval in forest hill around the corner from the old channel 0. From the grand finals in 1st division 1968-69 and 70 no one has. From second division the grand finals not seen on tape are 67-68-69-70-71-72-74- 75-77-80. As for home and away the earliest would be about 3 minutes of a port v geelong west from 1975 when freddie kicks his ton. David have you any footage from your era when you played ?
