Who won? I think it was Subi that the Seagulls went over to play.

Subiaco Football Club defeated VFL club Williamstown yesterday at Medibank Stadium during the club’s four day pre-season camp in Perth, which starts on Wednesday.

Subiaco won 5.10.40 to Williamstown 4.6.30 in an unusual format where both side played two halves followed by two, 10-minute quarters.

The game, which was free to watch for interested punters, was interesting to compare the two teams as Williamstown finished on top of the ladder after the 2010 VFL season.

A Subi spokesman said was also a great opportunity for the club to renew ties with Williamstown coach Peter German, who guided Subiaco to the 2004 and 2006 premierships and was awarded the honour of being named a SFC Diehard in 2010.

Back in the 2004 pre-season, Peter German took a similar group of Subiaco players to Melbourne, who stayed at Peter’s community club Oak Park and participated in learning sessions and had the opportunity to visit iconic Melbourne sporting venues and clubs. Subiaco went on to win the premiership in 2004.

The Williamstown FC is most appreciative of the hospitality provided by Subiaco and is looking forward to the opportunity of coming to Perth.

Football manager, Chris Dixon said it was great that the club has committed to take its professionalism to the next level.

“I know a lot of the boys are very excited having not been to Perth before,” he said.

“The camp will provide a great environment to continue to improve our fitness base in a new and challenging environment.

“We’re very thankful to the Subiaco Football Club for providing us with this opportunity and hopefully we can reciprocate the gesture in future years.”

Williamstown arrived Wednesday morning and toured Subiaco’s facilities at Medibank Stadium, followed by a weights session and theory in the evening.

This morning the club undertook a swimming session, then toured Fremantle Football Club’s facilities and was due to play a game against Subiaco at Medibank Stadium starting at 6pm.

Tomorrow morning the boys will run at Kings Park followed by strategy sessions, followed by a tour of Paterson’s Stadium and in the evening will be a values session.[/quote]
