Frankston Dolphins 2011

Here is the 'final' list of notable ins and outs at Frankston Park for 2011. I would expect most if not all of the ins to play senior footy at some stage.

In: Bob McCallum (Drouin/VCFL State team), Gavin Marusic (Kooweerup), Blake McGrath (St Kilda), Tyson Mitchem (Preston), Taylor Stratton (Sandringham/Karingal), Joel West (former Bendigo Pioneers/Bombers), Jake Greeley, Riley Heddles (Stingrays), Nick Boland (Sandrigham Dragons), Andrew Douglas (Frankston YCW), Dale Whelan (returning from 09), Rob Clements (Karingal)

Out: Michael Hibberd (Essendon), Ryan Hobbs, Ben Mitchell, Matthew Davis, Matthew Cavedon, Nick Boswell (all to local/country clubs).

How do you assess the clubs recruiting this summer Paul? What are your expectations for this year down at the Dolphins?

Well I think the club has very much recruited at the grassroots level, which is a pretty good reflection of the club at all levels at the moment, building a base to grow from. As a result of that and almost the entire senior playing group staying together, the list has quite a bit more depth this year, meaning more competitive performances in the early game and more pressure from below on guys in the senior team.

How many more wins that will equal I am not sure - I am always hesistant to read too much into a VFL season until round 5 or 6. But players like Luke Potts, Mark Baguley, Mitch Bosward and Toby Thoolen are really stepping up as leaders and that will have as big an impact as any recruit.

Frankston have tended to struggle to attract key youngsters in recent years.

Many players are tending to either go back to their local club or play at the AFL alligned Sandringham or down the road at Casey Scorpions.

With the losses of Hibberd and Boswell, they certainly do not bat as deep but after a breakout year from young gun Luke Potts, they may have found another youngster to step up to the plate..

Would think they will again struggle, probably aim for 3 - 5 wins realistically.
