IT HAS been almost two seasons since Brett Goodes dominated a VFL match, but there were flashes of brilliance from the brother of Sydney's Brownlow medallist Adam Goodes yesterday for Williamstown in its 35-point win over Sandringham.

The former North Ballarat premiership star all but gave up on his AFL ambitions last season when he went to play for NT Thunder and took up a role in developing indigenous football and employment opportunities in Katherine.

But yesterday's supreme performance in the midfield, which included five goals, showed again why Goodes was in contention for a spot on an AFL list just three years ago.
