Sandy got the big 'A 'from Melbourne then St. Kilda offered a beter deal both financially and a better deal with a Sandy owned coach and until this season is over we cannot say it has been a failure. The future will be revealed when and if St. Kilda goes alone and fields it's own reserves team as others are now doing so Sandy will be on it's own again.
It's been successful both ways keeping the club afloat and supplying AFL players every week and encouraging new younger players to the club who like to play with AFL players .
As said when St.Kilda plays their own team in the near future Sandy will also be a stand alone side again.

I for one hope Sandy and all the current VFL clubs (except Essendon dressed up as Bendigo) survive, I love going to the different grounds & we have already lost too many of the original VFA clubs. I would dearly love the competition to return to the powerhouse it once was before the AFL took over, but i can't see that happening unless Melbourne-based AFL sides fold or are relocated & all the AFL games are played at night, as i'm sure the TV stations would love from a ratings & advertising revenue perspective. I wince every time I hear or read about the VFL being referred to as the reserves, seconds, magoos, etc. Why the VFL (or the AFL) can't issue a memo to all media outlets and AFL clubs to desist doing this is beyond me, unless they don't have the will or balls to do it. They do it quick enough if there is a mis-pronunciation of a players name (Rie-Wolt magically became Rie-Volt overnight!)
