Dean Laidley won't be having any match day role at sandy other than being an observer

Sandy. The most successful club in the past 30 years

I heard Dean Laidley is bringing along Shaney Harvey with him. Only joking zebra supporters. The zebras would be far better off if Laidley was an observer and not to interfere with the zebras coach McPhee.

Poor Brett Lovett never got much out of his team for one reason or another. Lovett is well respected by Frankston and a pity he did not do better with the zebras.
McPhee is an unknown in vfl circles who could do ok.

Although I never went him much Jason, Laidley never ever interferred with any match day plans or field placings with the Roosters. Quite the opposite actually, he was very remote & stayed right out of the picture. Which pleased everybody.

From todays's Herald Sun:

'Pelchen said there was conflict during St Kilda's VFL alignment with Sandringham, with that relationship also dramatically altered.

New development coach Simon McPhee will coach Sandringham, with the academy director to become his assistant coach on game day.

Skills acquisition coach Paul Hudson will become the forwards' coach for Sandringham while leadership and development coach Jaymie Graham will be the VFL defensive coach.

"The consistent theme from even the senior group was that our development had not been emphasised as strongly as it should be," Pelchen said.

"I had (AFL Victoria general manager) Grant Williams comment that we have gone from either the worst or second-worst coaching structure in terms of our VFL alignment to the best overnight."

So, four of Sandringham's senior coaches are St Kilda people. Will there be any Sandringham-appointed coaching staff at all? Sad ....

I will be happy if this group of coaches actually are coaching the Sandy/St Kilda players to win on match day for the SFC and also developing players for the St K FC at the same time.

Of course the ONLY VFL club to make this work consistantly was Sandy when they were with Melbourne so they should know how it is done.

Should lead to a very interesting season.

If Grant Wiliams made that statement about the best coaching structure in terms of VFL alignment, I just wonder where & what it was based on without any positive information to justify it.
