It must be heartbreaking for lifelong Box Hill Mustang supporters.

WHY dont these gutless and faceless AFL people just go and have their own reserves team instead of bludgeing off the former VFA clubs and using the facilities that were built with local ratepayers money spent for the local community not some multi million dollar AFL business

I just hope that Sandy dont go the same way.

I note the ST Kilda cash grant to the Zebras in 2010 was only $209,000 plus what the Zebras dont have to pay fo the Saints players playing for them.Which St Kilda have to pay anyway for players on their list.

A decent pokie outlet would easily cover those costs and the Zebras would be a "free" club again.

Plenty mates of mate that were hardcore Mustang supporters gave up years ago. Those that were hanging on will probably give Hawthorn reserves the BIG A.
Hawthorn and Carlton are gutless low life scum.
Why don't they just field their won sides and stop scumming of the vfl teams.
I would rather see Box Hill Mustangs go alone and rather be in the EFL than be Hawthorn reserves.
Just like Preston Bullants should play in the NFL rather than be Carlton SCUM seconds.
Very very sad but Box Hill have been Hawthorn reserves for a long time now.

If the VFL had any balls they would give all these alignments the arse.
Start a stand alone competition for the VFL & tell the AFL to start their own comp & play when ever & where ever they like.

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

two things to say

1. if Willi ever went down this track I would be off to watch Fitzroy in the Ammo's immediately & permanently; and

2. how does Box Hill FC end up with more Hawthorn people on their board than Box Hill appointees? I'm pleased to say there are NO Bulldogs people on our board, but it still concerns me that an AFL club could, if they wanted to, simply buy up a sufficient number of membership tickets, force a spill of board positions & get their own people in there by stealth, unless there is something in a club's constitution to prevent it.

Unfortunately it would appear that economic realities have bought about the demise of Box Hill & Preston as we know them, sad day .....

They did!

They at one stage wore a Collingwood jumper (during the Pies alignment).

That's why after 20 years I gave the middle finger salute to the club I grew up with... and a few years later began following the arch-rivals, Port Melbourne.

I stand corrected but I don't think we ever actually did, i remember we played a curtain-raiser at the G before a Collingwood V Carlton game & the Magpies wanted us to wear their jumper but we refused & it didn't happen & they never asked again. Unless you are referring to another occassion ....

Yes, the song was changed to the same tune as Collingwood's for a year or two (much to most people's disgust) but Buckley was never on the season ticket, thankfully .....

STANGA

Brekky, I basically stopped following box hill couple years back when they proposed a new yellow jumper...I realised I was just barracking for the hawthorn 2's. Couldn't muster up any feeling whatsoever. Been basically following Port the last couple of years...used to hate em.... but I worked and kinda lived near the ground for a bit, and being stand alone there was a lot to like. It's not the same though...kinda feel a bit sheepish switching clubs, but mine just aint around no more.
