Brad Wing, cut by the Sandringham Dragons, finds fame as a US college punter

WE often look at our sporting expats through rose-coloured glasses. It's not uncommon to make them out to be superstars in a foreign land when, in fact, they may be decent athletes but largely anonymous.

One of many trying to live out their dreams of playing sport for a living.

Then you have Brad Wing.

If one Aussie is on the road to stardom, it's the American football punter from Louisiana State University (LSU).

Don't believe it? Then check out the profiles on the websites of ESPN and Sports Illustrated, the two giants of the American sporting media.

Even the financial bible, the Wall Street Journal, has profiled the 20-year-old from the Melbourne suburb of Sandringham.

Still don't believe it. Then what about the rap song dedicated to him on YouTube encouraging people to do the "Brad Wing" dance? More on that later.

Full Story

Looks like Sandringham have missed out on some talent there. If you want to see him in action the BCS National Championship game, LSU v Alabama, is live on ESPN 10/1 @ 12:30pm.

There are truckloads of "Brad Wings" in the states at the moment all going to be the next big thing.
Scott Crough who is the younger brother of Sandringham's Liston trophy winner Justin, is getting huge raves in the local Ballarat press as the next Ben Graham.
Jordan Berry, (Ex Calder Canons) the son of former North Ballarat strong man Jason is also on the talent scouts radar as showing plenty of potential.
Throw in Fev & Rocca & there wont be any room left for any Yanks.

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
