PORT Melbourne's winning streak reached a history-making 24 victories after yesterday's come-from-behind 28-point away win over Bendigo at Queen Elizabeth Oval.

The streak beats Preston's 23 consecutive victories in 1984-85 when the competition was the VFA. But some are suggesting the Borough's feat achieved yesterday is the greatest of all because of the challenges it faces every week in an AFL-dominated competition.

Trailing by two points at the final change, Port coach Gary Ayres was quick to mention that his team could create history once more after an undefeated season last year.
