Pretty pathetic that Sandy the 3rd placed team atm get only one player yet bottom dwellers like Collingwood,Frankston and Bendigo get 3 each

Then again on the positive side there is less chance of Sandy players getting injured in a nothing game against poor opposition.

If the VFL play to their ability and dont get too smart as they have tended to do in the past when they get a few goals ahead they should win by 100 pts.

Interesting to note that two Zebra discards who both spent long periods in the reserves in Matt BOLAND and Khan HARETUKU do make the squad.
Pretty simple to understand, even for you Billy

1 player in the VFL Squad = Piss Poor VFL List
I'm surprised that Geelong and Casey don't have more players.. there are a lot of VFL listed players at both clubs who can consider themselves unlucky.

Very glad I didn't see the name Wheeler there.. I don't see Willie Wheeler being anywhere near as good as he is being talked up. Not in their best 198
Willie Wheeler the Arnold Horshack lookalike last year when he had his 70s hairstyle, is just a player. Probably the most overrated player I have seen at vfl level in a long time is Ben Griffiths from Coburg. He is a listed Richmond player that is very ordinary and should be delisted. Harsh words but reality. Don't know what the scribes have seen but I don't rate him. Nick Carnell is Coburg's best player by a country mile.

Round 8 VFL Record (page 15) claims the VFA was in existance in 1998. It would have been the VFL that Tassie defeated in 1998. The VFA ceased after 1996.

Hopefully the VFL players who by way the are NOT the best players that could represent the State dont get above their station and think they are the REAL Victorian team!

About as close as any of the players representing the VFL would get to playing for an AFL Vic team would be to carry the water bottles.

Maybe a bit harsh but even the some best AFL players running around in the alinged sides are not even allowed to be picked

To me it dosent represent the real standard of the VFL played each week.

I was of the belief that AFL rookies that haven't been promoted are eligible?

Case in point is Collingwood's Jarryd Blair who played in the corresponding game over in WA and then subsequently played in the Pies premiership team in 2009 after being promote off the rookie list a few weeks later.

It probably doesn't but the players still get a thrill from donning the big V even though it is a far smaller scale. When the VFL play either SA or WA there should not be any afl aligned players as then the states can say which state is stronger without relying on afl listed players. It also gives the vfl listed players better recognition and experience at the state games. Rookies should be ok to play. Otherwise what criteria would you have for players that can play ? It might get messy.
Maybe not the best players but it is a fairer system.
Still plenty of depth in the VFL to pick a decent side with only vfl listed players.

Thats all well and good vfa but I dont like the fact that the team is not a true indication of the standard of the VFL

We should be able to pick the BEST players avaiable no matter where they come from with maybe a proviso that AFL listed players need to have played a min of 3 games.

I suspect its the AFL Clubs that dont want any of their better players playing in case they get injured.

If the afl listed have played at least 3 games maybe fair enough.
As long as there is some set rule and they stick with.
I reckon that the afl clubs would not favour their listed players playing in case of injury or straining a heart muscle.
Tassie has no Devils in the VFL as they are extinct like the dodo bird. They
will be picking a state rules team with no afl players.
Wonder how many players from SA or WA would qualify from afl lists that played 3 games compared to the vfl ?

Billy, how many afl listed players that have played at least 3 games would actually deserve a game ? Would they be of more benefit or would you get a vfl listed player putting in more ?
