Other Former Football Leagues

Im just wondering if anyone here has or know of anyone with results from games from the following former footy leagues.

Reporter Districts Football Association (1903-1927)
Ringwood Districts Football League (1927-1941) (I currently have 1937-38-39)
Croydon District Football League (1945-49) (I currently have 1945-46-47)
Croydon-Ferntree Gully Football League (1950-61 Div 1)
Croydon-Ferntree Gully Football League (1950-61 Div 2)
Croydon-Ferntree Gully Football League (1956-61 Div 3)

Thanks
Marc

Obviously pre Eastern Football League days.
Would love to know the makeup of the teams.
Have you checked each individual team's website.
Other ideas would be checking footypedia website or the long haul of going through old newspapers in the state library.

I know Lilydale is probably the oldest team in the east. In fact Lilydale would be one of the oldest clubs going around. Maybe top twenty in the oldest existing clubs in Australia. Lilydale wears the Williamstown colours. Mooroolbark use to wear the Northcote jumpers.

Box Hill you should be able to find out pretty easy.
I'll have a look around the traps and see what I can find out for you Marc.

I'll post some highlights from a Kilsyth v Oakleigh clash from Kilsyth Rec Reserve in 1984. Interesting as I was watching a tape of a 1981 clash between Sandy v Caulfield. Russell Hodges ex Fitzroy and South Melbourne was playing for Sandy. A year later5 he crossed over to Kilsyth as captain coach.

Keep up the good work with scores and results from all the eastern leagues from years gone by.
Speaking of history I would also find interesting scores and results from the defunct Eastern Suburban Churches League. A side like Donvale have come a long way since they were running around in the Churches League.

Try this site EasternFooty.
You won't get scores but it will give you ladders from the Box Hill reporter District as well as the Croydon FTG Leagues.

The following I found at the Footypedia website.

1950
KILSYTH, CROYDON, LILYDALE, FERNTREE GULLY;
Boronia, Upper FTG, Bayswater, Warrandyte
1951
KILSYTH, EAST RINGWOOD, FERNTREE GULLY, CROYDON;
Lilydale, Boronia, Bayswater, Warrandyte, Upper FTG
1952
KILSYTH, EAST RINGWOOD, CROYDON, LILYDALE;
Ferntree Gully, Boronia, Bayswater, Warrandyte, Upper FTG, Wantirna
1953
EAST RINGWOOD, KILSYTH, FERNTREE GULLY, BORONIA;
Croydon, Bayswater, Warrandyte, Upper FTG
1954
EAST RINGWOOD, KILSYTH, BORONIA, CROYDON;
Ferntree Gully, Bayswater, Upper FTG, Scoresby, Keysborough, Warrandyte
1955
RINGWOOD, EAST RINGWOOD, BORONIA, MITCHAM;
Ferntree Gully, Upper FTG, Kilsyth, Croydon, Bayswater, Warrandyte, Scoresby, Mulgrave
1956 (Division 1)
RINGWOOD, EAST RINGWOOD, CROYDON, KILSYTH;
Boronia, Mitcham, Ferntree Gully, Upper FTG, Lilydale, Warrandyte, Box Hill/Surrey Hills, Bayswater
1956 (Division 2)
MULGRAVE, SCORESBY, KEYSBOROUGH, HEATHMONT;
Coldstream, Yarra Glen, South Wantirna
1957 (Division 1)
RINGWOOD, EAST RINGWOOD, CROYDON, BORONIA;
Mitcham, Kilsyth, Box Hill/Surrey Hills, Warrandyte
1957 (Division 2)
HEATHMONT, BAYSWATER, SCORESBY, KEYSBOROUGH;
Mulgrave, Coldstream, Yarra Glen, Mount Evelyn, The Basin
1958 (Division 1)
EAST RINGWOOD, KILSYTH, BORONIA, RINGWOOD;
Croydon, Mitcham
1958 (Division 2)
WARRANDYTE, BAYSWATER, HEATHMONT, MULGRAVE;
Box Hill/Surrey Hills, Scoresby
1958 (Division 3)
EAST RINGWOOD 2, YARRA GLEN, COLDSTREAM, THE BASIN;
Boronia 2, Mount Evelyn

And there is a Croydon District FL/Croydon Mail FL dating back to WW2 - and I think it may have been known as the Ringwood District FL prior to WW2.
it was the Ringwood Districts FL from 1927-1941 then after the war it become the Croydon Mail FL from 1945-49

If you've got the premiers of the Ringwood league - that will help. I'll be going after the complete ladders myself soon (hopefully this summer!) but I'm trying to clear as much of post WW2 as I can.

1945 (Croydon Mail FL)
BAYSWATER, CROYDON;
Kilsyth, Boronia
1946
CROYDON, BAYSWATER, EAST RINGWOOD, KILSYTH;
Boronia, Warrandyte, Montrose
1947
EAST RINGWOOD, LILYDALE, CROYDON, KILSYTH;
Boronia, Bayswater, Warrandyte, Montrose
1948 (Croydon District FL)
CROYDON, LILYDALE, BORONIA, KILSYTH;
East Ringwood, Bayswater, Warrandyte
1949
BORONIA, LILYDALE, CROYDON, EAST RINGWOOD;
Kilsyth, Bayswater

It's funny. I have the centenary history book of Mitcham, and they never recognised the CTFGFL (which they joined in 1955) and the Ringwood league (which they left before WW2 for the ESFL) as essentially the same league! Go figure!

Here's the Box Hill Reporter Ladders (missing 1906-190

Trinity played at what became Howard Dawson Reserve, South Camberwell,as a club in the Eastern Suburban* Protestant Churches Football Association. With the admission of Catholic clubs to that competition, the word Protestant was deleted from its name. I think the ESCFA clubs which remained were absorbed into the SESFL, which itself has split, whatever, into Sthn FL, partly Eastern FL(??).
Later, a club called South Yarra played at Dawson Reserve -- not sure of which competition. I think its colours included a blue.

Trinity was green and yellow,like Northcote, if my failing memory recalls correctly. It may have changed to yellow sash.

The home I lived in for nearly 40 years backed onto Dawson Reserve. It has been used since for rugby and soccer. Nearmap shows soccer markings.

It was also the umpires training venue. We knew footy season was close when the whistles of the umpires was heard!

* Suburbs(?) Correct forum for this?

Thanks guys, most of the info posted I already have from my site http://easternfooty.byethost18.com/

This site http://footyscorearchive.wiki-site.com/index.php/Main_Page also has some scores and stats from various leagues
