Gale is named in the reserves.
Looks like a strong Port side.
Adam Cockie goes ok for the zebras and with Farren Ray both had good games last week. They face a much sterner test with the likes of Valenti, Baird and the Woof. Marigiliani could line up on Galea ? Beau Dowler might start there but would not be surprised if they switched. Shane Sikora is lion hearted but will find it tougher this week on Skipper and Bones. Polo on Pinwill could be a fiery match up ??
The zebras have improved this year and are better coached with McFee who impresses the way he goes about his coaching. I would expect the borough to be too tough and win anywhere from 4 goals to 10 goals ? The likelihood of a rain soaked day could either even it up to a scrap or be a blowout in Port's favour as they love the conditions especially at North Port. Zebraman and Zebra if you are there I can catch up at the Port social club at half time. I'll bring a copy of the 1981 Sandy v Caulfield clash (channel 0) for both. Speaking of Caulfield Mark Fine will be guest speaker at the Port president's lunch.
Galea playing in the twos.. hmm.
Perhaps he's unavailable for a wedding or some other personal issue? The only other thing I could think it would be is a disciplinary thing? Hope not. Perhaps the clubs are playing ducks and drakes for Saturdays line-up?
That was Gale not Galea North Port in the reserves. Gale had disappeared from the seniors a few weeks ago and I wondered what had happened to him.
I can now reveal there are two extra special guests that will be joining Mark Fine at the Port Melbourne's President Luncheon tomorrow.
Jim Christou (Premierships 76/77/80/81)
Frank Johnson Snr - AFL Hall of Fame Inductee, captain of the PMFC Team of the century, 1953 Premiership player... and the list goes on!
I have copied a Sandy v Caulfield game from 1981 for Finey. He was a passionate Caulfield Bears person.
Jimmy Christou is a top bloke. Was fantastic with Northcote after leaving Port Melbourne.
Frankie Johnson say no more. Well deserved legend status (on and off the field). Great to see Big Bob Johnson added to the afl hall of fame. Still reckon they should add some VFA (more) legends to the hall of fame.
If they did (and that is a very big if) who would you pick ?
Billy, Zebra, Bobby, Blackrocker and etc question for you ?
If I had to pick three it would be Freddie Cook, Gerry 'The Monster' Callahan and Ted Henrys ?? There of course would be many more.
Only wish there was a VFA hall of fame. Pretty hard for that to happen the way this comp is run. Might need several old VFA heads with plenty of influence for that to ever happen.
We might have to start a separate thread (hypothetical) VFA hall of fame.
Maybe Billy can start of with the zebra legends, Bobby the old boroughs and CGull with the Williamstown players worthy.
I can do the Northcote players.
The weather looks alright so far today. Hoping a strong Zebras contingent turn up to add some extra atmosphere.

About what I expected.
My Sandy players would be Bruce Harper,Bob Murray,Dennis Oakley,Anthony Allen,Terry Wilkins,Neil Bencraft maybe Nick Sauntner and Fred Webster.
A stellar first quarter of footy from Port, kicking with the wind in the first quarter, but from then on it was a real sea-saw game. The Zebras exerted good pressure and I reckon they effected smothers on around 5 or 6 occasions.
The final margin probably doesn't indicate just how close the game was.
Not a bad crowd for a Saturday early start TV game... and some lively exchanges between supporers of both clubs!
From a Port perspective there is plenty of improvement to be made. I guess the positive is week after week when Port is challenged in a close contest, manage to kick away to finish off strongly.
Note to Port Melbourne officials.. BrekkyDJ? Lose that awful american bugle thing that was playing over the PA today. AWFUL!
