2012 Foxtel Cup - Semi Final - Claremont v Port Melbourne

http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/17333/Default.aspx#fixtureid=7936&tab=Teams

Port Melbourne fielding possibly its weakest side in this competition so far. Claremont shouldn't be taken lightly but the Borough are going to have a huge task to win over at Subiaco.

Not sure what the future of the comp is like with very junior teams being fielded.

I'm tipping Claremont to win by 6 or 7 goals.

Skipper a roughy to play? Listed as an emergency, he's from WA and could make the trip?

Sam Fong must be related to either Les Fong or Neil Fong ? Les Fong played many games for West Perth and was a legend in the WAFL.
Looks like a seconds team selected by Port. Claremont would have been a tough game anyway for the borough but now looks like a mammoth task. I would be surprised if Port won.

Looks like the Borough are concentrating solely on the VFL season.
Fair enough I suppose. But it makes the Foxtel Cup a bit of a joke.
At least it will give the young blokes valuable experience

Lum,
Where are all the Port guns. ??
Does make a bit of a mockery of the Foxtel cup competition.
We were bagging the top SA teams for not participating, now Port pull this resting of good players. Too bad if you have backed them. !!
Did hear a little whisper that some of the Port players have pulled the pin because they were not getting paid.
That would not be right.....Surely.!!!

Love the VFL grand final at Etihad Stadium.

Looks like Werribee will be the hot favourites of this years Foxtel Cup if Port go down to Claremont which looks likely.
In the event of a Werribee v Claremont Grand Final, where would this be played ? Considering that Claremont played at home in last years final getting flogged by Williamstown the GF should be played at TURD DOME (Ethihad Stadium).
The GF should even be played on a Thursday night as I heard rumours that if Port played Werribee it would be on Thursday August 9 at Turd Dome ?? Play it on the Thursday night regardless.

Really looking forward to this contest despite many Port players unavailable.
Im certain we will give a good account of ourselves and am not conceding defeat just yet.

My main worry would be not having our better clearance players (Pinwill, Valenti, Bentick etc) around the middle. Especially without a genuine ruckman. And also if we have enough fire power to kick a winning score.

Our backline still looks very good and we have picked a host of youngsters who have great leg speed. Im expecting Port to take the game on and try run Claremont off there feet on the big ground. Its great to see a number of guys on debut also.

Sutciffe and Gordon are ones to watch and will be excellent players in the near future.
And finally Damien Miscitti is back on the park after a year of terrible injuries. In my opinion hes the most talented kid we've had at Port since Robin Nahas. Hes def in our best team and expect to see him play a big part in Port's finals campaign. Has the talent to play AFL.
