Do you think playing in a lower standard comp will help them?

Coburg needs to copy Bendigo in dropping an AFL nickname, and become the Lions again as soon as possible -- at the latest from 19 August 2012.

I think the Idea of a Reserve League would be way Different. Be more about Development

It won't happen. Clubs like Footscray, North Melbourne and Melbourne cannot afford to spend the extra dollars. Besides where would Hawthorn play home games Glenferrie Oval ? Melbourne will not be having games at MCG. Forget about the return of curtain raisers. The AFL reserves comp I cannot see resurfacing anytime soon.

I think that is what the AFL clubs do now, but they get to develop young players against more mature opponents, some of whom are playing with the real desire of senior football rather than the sometimes selfish aspect of reserves football.

As a one eyed Richmond supporter all i can say is - good- bye Coburg. you never wanted us in the first place. You just took our money so you could survive.
Look forward to see us again playing under our name again

Being a standalone AFL club in the vfl will not automatically get you success in the vfl. Collingwood were disgraceful on Saturday in the VFL. The VFL standalone teams want to WIN at all COSTS. The AFL standalone teams want to run their clubs and play their players where they want. The bottom scale of a standalone AFL team lists in the VFL will be shallow and mainly top ups.
Geelong on the otherhand has unearthed some good kids. Bit of a mixed bag with the AFL standalone teams.
This comp is basically all over the shop with stand alone afl, standalone vfl, part aligned, fully aligned as well as Carlton (formerly Preston) seconds saving a buck. Could have as many as 16 teams in 2014.
