VFA books

Is the Zebra Story published 1986 a good book?

I have Terry Keenans books

I now have most of Marc Fiddian's books, except the prahran, preston and oakleigh books as I cant find them in second hand shops.

If anyone knows Marc plese him for some reason the copywright to them doesnt seem to belong to him

Do u have 'Seagulls Over Williamstown'? That's not a bad book, bit of a summary of seasons rather than in-depth stories but not a bad read from a historical perspective. Also, the Williamstown Historical Society has a LOT of footy club history, including Ron Todd's two contracts (the dodgy one & the real one) and all the footies from the 1950's GF wins, annual reports, minutes of meetings & an honour board that they have lovingly restored.

I heard from an AFL source (Michael Lovett) that Ron Todd may be next in the Hall of fame.

Santo from melb sports books is sending the book over.

Does 'town have a list pf players games & goals. Im pretty sure a guy I know Luke Jarred played there.

There are things that puzzle me some of Marc Fiddians books.
In the recent VFA history it says in 1984 South Melbourne supporters met with the VFA to investigate joining. The South Melbourne historian says highly unlikely. would love to know the source (I know Marc Fiddian as a journalist was close to the administration).

Santo is in The Gulls, our coterie fund-raising group at Willi, also runs the boundary for the Ammo's. Yep, Luke Jarred played at Willi for a few years & was a highly-skilled player who took a brilliant mark against Box Hill at Willi one day. I'm sure he'd be happy to take u through it ;-)

Not sure about a list of players, games & goals. I would suggest u contact Brendan Curry at Willy FC. I'll send u a private message with two other names who might be able to help u.

I have/had a newspaper report from The Age to that effect in around 1983/84. Not sure how far the talks progressed or who was behind it but I seem to recall it may have been the Keep South At South people.

Luke Jarred is now a double sanfl premiership player with woodville-west torrens (we used to wear the same jumper as willy when we were west torrens). Did he win one with 'town.

He is a possible future club captain. Good bloke and can kick a mice hoal on the run from outside 50.

Its quite possible the south historian thinks he knows it all and if he didnt hear about it 'it didnt happen'. From what ive heard marc was close to those at the top of the vfa and as a journalist i doubt he would make it up

It definitely was on the table for South to join the VFA, why it didn't happen I'm not sure as the Lake Oval was still available then, maybe Port weren't so keen on the idea. I'll see if i can find that article when i'm back home.

Yes, another one who got away to the SANFL & had a long & successful career over there. He didn't play in our 2003 premiership side, but he may have played in a Ressies flag side. He was a lovely left-foot kick if i remember correctly.

jamesh

wow im shocked he didnt crack it for 2003. he is a class act.

The Eagles have actuallt built their success around a stack of Victorians with VFL experience (as do most SANFL clubs)..... like Mark McKenzie, Luke Jarredd, Mark Passador (now retired).

Interestingly we had the signatures of Jeremy Clayton & Ian Callinan but they kept getting AFL interest and ended up at other SANFL clubs
