Ground names
Body:

Many sports grounds, including football venues, have been named. These include VFA/VFL grounds. Some stay, such as Edwin Flack in Berwick, Whitten Oval in West Footscray, Casey Fields in Cranbourne East and Victoria Park in Abbotsford. Commercial names usually do not stay for very long, in the bigger picture of the ground's life. Docklands Stadium has had some different sponsor's names. In years to come, people will wonder as to the location of "Colonial Stadium", TEAC Oval, Austar Arena, Proton Oval, Burbank Oval, the confusing "Avalon Airport" Oval in Werribee, Optus Oval/MC Labour Park/ Visy Park, etc. In 2010, the VFL won well against WAFL at Medibank Stadium. Two WAFL clubs share this ground, Leederville Oval.

Now with the imminent closure of Aurora Energy in Tasmania, it's a possibility that Launceston's York Park will regain its proper title for at least a little while. Then, who will know where Aurora Stadium was??

One has only to remember the fairly recent calamity regarding the naming rights at Geelong's Kardinia Park, where the sponsor withdrew after all the fixtures and other season details had been spread.
