J.J Liston. Division 1 and 2 & other vfa medals

Hey everyone

I can not seem to find this info out.

When the vfa was in 2 divisions did division 2 have a best in the league medal?

Or were both the divisions combined?

Was there any other vfa medals/trophies that ceased once they changed to the vfl?

Thanks

jb

2nd division had the J Field Medal for best and fairest. 1st division was the JJ Liston Trophy that still exists today. Until the 1930's, when there was only one division there was also the Recorder Cup.
Notable winners of the Field Medal were:
1972 Wayne Schimmelbush for Brunswick
1977 Dereck King for Oakleigh - also won the Liston for Oakleigh in 1975.
1973 and 1975 Geoff Bryant for Box Hill despite the Mustangs failing to win a game in '73 and winning only one in '75.
1988 Stephen Sells for Werribee, being the last medal awarded.

The Jack Field Medal was named after Jack Field who was VFA treasurer for many decades and he was also a Sandringham supporter.

Jack Himself would attend Sandy games as well - a very dapper man!
