Port Melbourne Team Of The Century

The Port Melbourne Football Club team of the century was chosen in 2003, combining all the clubs greats from across its long history.

Team of the Century: Line Up
Back Line Stan Plumridge Joe Garbutt Vic Aanensen
Half Back Line David King Bob Kelsey Bob Withers
Centre Line Bill Swan Peter Bedford Billy McGee
Half Forward Line Rob Freyer Ted Freyer Brian Walsh
Forward Line Bob Bonnett Fred Cook Tommy Lahiff
Rucks Frank Johnson Snr Graeme Anderson Bill Findlay
Interchange David Holt Reg Murray Norman Goss Jnr Bill Bedford Carl Bowen Gary Brice
Coach Gary Brice
Captain Frank Johnson Snr

What's people's thoughts on the selected side?

The real standout for me is David king only 65 games & got selected

I'm surprised a few missed out

Greg dermott 211 games
Steven allender ( only 78 but played more than king & won a jj)
Steve harkins ( 176 games & a liston)

I'm sure a few more were unlucky to make it

[/quote]I agree about Greg "Biff" Dermott as I would have had him before David King.I saw both of them play at the club so I think I can make a opinion.I think the people who selected this team looked at what David King did at AFL level and not at VFA/VFL level. Greg Dermott was a legend at the club when he played and premiership player a 200 game player.
