No finals for the Dolphins this year :(

In a game that looked mostly like a running maul today, the Roosters snuffed out our finals chances once and for all.

Frankston 1.2 5.8 6.9 8.13-61
North Ballarat 3.4 3.5 8.10 9.10-64

If I were a Roosters supporter I'd be absolutely rapt with their last quarter. Into a big wind, defending only a 13 point lead, they were absolutely courageous and composed with their short-kicking possession game. Well deserved win for them for sure. For our blokes, it'll be a long summer of thinking about missed opportunities - today being probably the biggest.

Very gracious summary Cutter.
Unsure as to whether Robbo is inferring that the head count cost Frankston the game ??
I can assure you all that Fitzy would never be part of anything untoward & I think most people would never question his integrity. Win fair or not at all.

Nothing wrong with situation of the count. Frankston did the wrong thing.

As it stands the margin is 3pts but the field umpires believed that Frankston's scores should be wiped therefore Roosters would win by 41pts. To be decided by AFL VIctoria tomorrow.

Not as bad as when Northcote had their score wiped off in the 1977 McWilliams Centenary Cup first round match against Yarraville in 1977 at Yarraville Oval. The dragons had their score wiped off which was more than double what Frankston kicked. They ended up with 3.2 to the eagles over 20 goals. I was not happy that day.

AFL Victoria have a meeting to determine what will happen with the issue with "The Count"

Should they determine the score is wiped this is how score would read:

Frankston 1-2 5-8 1-1 3-5(23)
Nth Ballarat 3-4 3-5 8-10 9-10(64)

Reading the AFL rules I won't be surprised if the score ends up being 3.5.23

Yesterday in the WAFL East Fremantle Captain Mark McGough was reported for time wasting after his team called for a count which was unsuccessful against Subiaco.

Can those who were at the game describe what happened in the lead up and during the count? When did it happen?

I'm unsure why Frankston supporters think their seasons over when they are only one game out of the 8 and a few rounds to play.

37 times Grand finalists
16 times premiers
21 times runners up - THE MIGHTY BOROUGH!

I'M PORT MELBURNE BORN,
I'M PORT MELBOURNE BRED,
I'LL BE PORT UNTIL I'M DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Northport, it happened early in the third quarter....not sure of the exact circumstances, but from memory Frankston were awarded a free kick on the scoreboard side of the centre square....somebody (I assume the Roosters' captain) must have asked the umpire for a count. The players of both sides lined up next to each other and it was pretty obvious straight away that the Dolphs had 19 out there. There was a fair bit of confusion out there at that point clearly....until ultimately the free kick was awarded to North Ballarat, along with a 50 metre penalty. I had thought our score would be reset to zero, but the board remained the same. It was certainly the most bizarre moment I can remember in 40 years of following footy!
