[quote=Borough1874]

Just watching the replay of a game that was on abc tv today.

The ground it was played at was part of the former Ballarat show grounds show track. Which might have a bit of asbestos under it from the old army buildings. But we will never know as no bugger is digging it up to build any new buildings.

Anyways back to the story. The ground is stuffed, here are all the Ballarat supporters giving it to us when there ground is little more than a cow paddock. I've seen more grass on my nature strip.

Gee whizz I was expecting to see eureka looking like a bowling green.

The word on the street is the game was moved was apparently because hawthorn officials were not happy with the condition of north port & the vfl instructed port to move it to another venue was the word going around box hill oval today.

I call that unlucky as I reckon if 10 other vfl clubs would not have minded.

Did werribee officialls inspect eureka before today's game?
Falling onto those big dirt patches in the forward 50 could seriously hurt a players skin & take some bark off there arms & legs.

As always digs I'm looking forward to your reply. I do think you should have been the one who went into politics not Gerald! You have a great answer to everything!

Borough,
You are right about me having an opinion on everything, especially those topics that are full of spin & bulls**t.
Now without the risk of having a lovers tiff, I will give you a few facts on the ground::-
It looks S**thouse.
It is actually the BEST wet weather ground in the state because it has the BEST drainage.
It has very thick layer of grass ALL over, no sign of dirt anywhere.
The composition of the grasses vary between winter & summer growth designed for this region.
There are people with horticultural degrees coming out of their lemon & sars on the payroll at the Ballarat City Council whose job it is to maintain the playing area.
Looks can be very deceiving.
Don't believe everything you see on TV.

well borough 1874,i am backing digger ,the tv look is not good, but hes right the surface is tops ,sand based, and you dont see games moved away from there,as a matter of fact many teams line up to get to play on there, the boroughs ground apparently is no good ,port might have to train up the road in williamstown rd,with more rain forecast, you might not get back on it,so your record away from home wont save you,the league has got problems, where do they go ,oh well just come up to eureka stadium, with great facilities, top all weather surface, watch out if the roosters happen to make it,playing for the jumper proves much more than putting out the hand for the almighty dollar, noone remembers who came second,so the dollar wont take the place of the real winners.

I refused to pay, I basically bitched out a Box Hill official until he just let me in. He got a bit put out when I asked to see a VFL official in response to his saying that it was their decision to change the game or, failing that, a Port Melbourne official. I object strongly to giving money to Hawthorns painted whore twice in a year!
The game was a fantastic one, and I was very angry to lose it, but I was even angrier that it took me over 2 hours to get home because of the issues on the train line.
Next time we have to move a game, the VFL might look to not give an enormous advantage to the AFL Reserves side and consider a neutral venue or even a change of day.
Whatever you think of Port Melbourne, having to play 3 of its home games at other venues during the year is very unfair and calls the neutrality of the competition into question.

Lum and Riccardo did the right thing by not paying - i wasn;t in the mood so said to the guy at the door "bad decision but o.k. i won;t argue about $5". Shouldn;t realy of paid to get in but anyways who cares.

I thought if Port is forfeiting their home game then they should be the one nominating where it is to be played. We could of played it closer to home wherby it woudl allow more of the Port locals to attend. Playing 2 of the 3 home games at opposition venues (both of which we lost) is Russian roulette by giving the opposition the advantage and taking away our very strong home ground. At the end of the day we can only complain to ourselves for the 2 home games gave away - we should of had the rooms ready in time.

There is absolutely no point in arguing anymore, I'm getting a sore head from bashing it against the brick wall.
I'm content in the facilities my team provides, I think they are a fair bit better than "decent" that's all that matters to me.
