With the billions the AFL now generate none of their clubs are going anywhere and if the VFL clubs go alone Ill bet they get nothing from the AFL!

How many of those billions are going to prop up GWS & Gold Coast? These lowly Melbourne-based AFL clubs have survived the Great Depression & two World Wars and now when there is more money in the AFL coffers than ever before these clubs are still losing money year after year. Surely this is unsustainable in the real world. What happens when the TV channels offer less for the rights in the future? The players will take a pay cut? More chance of hell freezing over. Its only the timing of the annual distributions from the AFL that stops ASIC from winding several of them up for trading while insolvent.

I'm told 2 year extension is done and dusted. Both clubs to be standalone in 2016. Think there's a min amount Zebs that must play each week, but not entirely sure on amount. Saints have also secured funding for redevelopment of Moorabbin.

If its true Sandringham should go down the same path as Williamstown has with the WB and focus solely on building a strong squad for 2016.

Interesing about Linton Street - the Saints should never have gone all the way to the backblocks of Seaford

Same goes even moreso for Melbourne who should have their training facility right near the MCG just like Collingwood do.

Moorabbin is in a very poor state, has not been kept up since the Saints left. Even when they were just training there it was in horrible condition.

One of the grandstands was recently demolished as it had become unsafe. It needs an upgrade (hopefully akin to what has been done at Collingwood) to make it a playable venue.

Go Borough!

Billy, According to the Collingwood CEO, Melbourne were offered the old Olympic pool site in Swan St first, but knocked it back. Eddie then swooped on it.

I seem to recall that happening but even worse was that the MFC allowed the hated Collingwood to set up their Social Club at the MCG!

The short arse failed coach Connolly was around when a lot of this happened he also talked the club into going to the wasteland at Cranbourne and was involved in the pathetic tanking episode.

Also in 2014 ithe Pies are going to build a 4000 seat function room on their training facility so as the members will have somewhere to have a drink after thw games at the MCG. They are currently restricted at the moment at the Westpac centre.
How they managed to acquire all that real estate will remain a serious question for a long time.
Friends in high places I think.
