Heater and Sandilands back in the side. No Valenti which is a big out.

Not sure if we'll see Tom Gordon again this season either.

What's wrong with Valenti ??
Has he been carrying an injury for the BEST part of the year ??.
From what I have seen he is well below his BEST.

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

Werribee far far too good today. Their skills were cleaner and they worked harder with and without the ball.

Worrying signs for the Borough, after another good start (4 goals to Galea in the first quarter against Box Hill last week, and 5 in the first quarter against Werribee).

I had to work and only arrived at 3/4 time, but thought Bonna did well in ruck from what I saw. No one else really stood out to me.

Werribee Tigers 4.1-25 8.5-53 13.11-89 20.16-136
Port Melbourne 6.2-38 7.7-49 8.8-56 10.11-71

Werribee Tigers
Goal Kickers: A. Maric 4, M. Daw 4, B. Warren 4, B. Brown 2, K. Harper , B. McKinley , J. Moore , L. McDonald , G. Cameron , T. McGenniss
Best Players: B. Ross, M. Firrito, B. Meredith, W. Sierakowski, A. Maric, S. Sherlock
Port Melbourne

They always seemed to have the numbers round the ball and were very clinical in turning defence into attack. We looked 2nd rate today and its puzzling to see the side perform so well on some occasions and on other perform well below par. Consistancy (or lack of) over the coarse of games and over the coarse of the season has been our worst enemy.

This is definetely not the season I and I think most other Port Melbourne supporters were anticipating when they were buying their memberships at North Port Oval early in the year.

The basic skill errors, kicking, ball handling, effort and supporting team mates, communication....not sure if fitness levels is included...although they seem to have to work harder than usual to get the ball....they were out run today all round the park! They need to re-group and believe, when the Borough fire, they are sensational!

Johnno,
They USED, to be sensational.
Personally I believe that Port have never recovered from their defeat by the Roosters in round 1o.

That may be true, only the guys would know if that...I reckon they put it behind them, there are other factors at play here...the home games they sacrificed due to council and club not getting the ground ready has cost them big time. The games at Geelong, Box Hill and now Werribee...they've gotta hurt deep down, when confidence is down, it's a killer!

Digs - No doubt that was a very big blow to the team. Psychologicaly it hurt the club for a couple of reasons. One it showed that they were no longer the side that would be guaranteed a win if they were 5 goals ahead in the 3rd (whereas in seasons gone by they would of clossed the game) - and two that home ground winning steak had come to a end and Port realised that they could be beaten at home by mid table teams.

Both these things would be enough to question the sides self belief and ability. Not to mention that perhaps it also did not good to moral. The combination of all of these things may of played a part in results after that match.

Sure we were missing a couple of players, but that's no excuse. So of the kids had the opportunity to stand up, and really try and cement a spot in the final two games in the lead up to finals. I didn't see that.

One who has been good in the second half of the year is Danny Hughes. He's fought his way back into the side after playing in the twos for a few weeks. I was interest to see him switched into defence. Was that only during the last quarter, or was the move made earlier?
