Yes you and other supporters were not imprssed with the umpiring. One gentleman asked me if they could legalise murder for the next 5 minutes and another threw his footy record at the fence. Nice to see some passion from the Port faithfull.
37 times Grand finalists
16 times premiers
21 times runners up - THE MIGHTY BOROUGH!
I'M PORT MELBURNE BORN,
I'M PORT MELBOURNE BRED,
I'LL BE PORT UNTIL I'M DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought it was a magnificent contest, very proud of my boys for standing up to a side full of incredibly experienced AFL players and not backing down or being willing to be steamrolled over.
I was pretty angry after the game, I felt some of the umpiring decisions were........suspect at best, but that's the nature of the AFL Victoria competition, I suppose.
Riccy me boy,
A bit rich Port supporters moaning about the umpires & the nature of the competition, when Port continue to get a five goal start in all their finals.
Give us a break mate.
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
It really isn't the clubs fault that the VFL chooses to play finals at North Port, is it diggsie? When we are the home side in finals, we should get to play it at home just like everyone else, this isn't the AFL where all teams have to play finals at the MCG after all.
Would you like us to start 5 goals behind for every home final, would that finally make you happy?
I understand it is not Port's fault.
All I want is for the competition to be FAIR to all.
That's not too much to ask.
The bland plain excuse that it is all about cost doesn't wash with me any more.
Does any one other than Port supporters agree. ??
The disadvantages of being less than 3ks from the Cbd digs.
Agreed Digs...it's amazing how SOME...not all...but some Port Melbourne supporters continue whingeing about the nature of the competition...how unfair it is...try for once giving an opposition team credit for winning instead of blaming umpires..."incredibly experienced"AFL players etc...
You would think that Port Melbourne have never had a dodgy decision go their way
Sandy. The most successful club in the past 30 years
We have it fairly good. Although a lot of things have not gone our way this year.
Interesting discussion and if truth be said I guess it is correct to say that Port has it good when it comes to finals. If you move the finals though you risk losing finals crowds as Port is central, easilly accesible and draws good crowds there. Look at the finals match at Casey last year - very poor crowd. I think the fairest way would be to play each final (except the grand final) at the home of the opposition team who finished higher up on the ladder. Thats extra reward / incentive to finish as high placed as possible.
Thats what I think would be fair but not what I hope would happen !!!
Ive rewatched the game to 3/4 time. Just a great game of footy.
Some good stuff from the clubs up and comers.
The two O'Sullivans, Perry, Vearing, Purcell, Woodley all will benefit from the experience
Shocking decisicion against Gale in the goalsquare.
