Best Conducted Club: Essendon

Ironic that the club that brought the AFL into disrepute is the best conducted club. I got a bit of a laugh out of it.

If anyone should be annoyed its port supporters. How does the bloke who kicks the most goals all year not get in?

[/quote]

Agree Borough, but you can't have them all.
Thought one Port player might have been a bit lucky.
Warren had one good game for the year against Port & did very little else.
The Sandy boys are entitled to be pissed off, how that kid Cockie missed out staggers me.
Now for Sellwood, first rover, are they fair dinkum ??
If his name was Smith he would be sweeping the gutters in Moorabool street.

It is true, you would think the leading goal kicker should by the full forward in the team of the year by default, regardless of who he plays for.

In my opinion Dean Galea when he retires will sit back & think just what happened to his career. When I first saw him play with Williamstown reserves I thought what the hell is this bloke playing at this level for.
After he left Willy he seemed to settle down & played some sensational footy. It can only be his character & attitude that prevented him from playing AFL footy, he certainly had the ability which he should have made the most of.

My comment wasn't about Deano specifically, just the fact that the leading goal kicker for the season would rightly consider themselves stiff not to the named in the best side at full forward, let alone miss it full stop.

If Ben Warren was in the same position, the same comment would have been made.

Go Borough!

Agreed. Would have to be the only position on the ground where the statistics I.e number of goals kicked is the sole criteria. An odd decision

Sandy. The most successful club in the past 30 years

Galea was one of my favourite players when he was down at Willi, as he always gave 100%, and had the best kick in the team, so was disappointing when he left. Ayres and Port have been good for him, and his contested marks (particularly down at Willi this year) are telling. Suspect his height and size not quite right for AFL, but there's still time to do a Podsiadly.

Remember in 2011 when Shane Valenti won his 2nd Liston... but was named on the bench for the team of the year!
