I think Borough was saying that they want to make a move not that the club wants to move them on - apologies on answering on your behalf boroughburger.
You do not rate Bonaddio, Pleming, Pinwill, Baird as being good enough ?
No, if you read what i said i included Pleming as one you want to keep, Bonners i'm not sure of (as are many people on this forum), Pinwill is a good player but does some really stupid things that penalises the team, John Baird is a great player but getting long in the tooth.
Not sure if anyone else noticed but when Bonna kicked a goal in the last term there was a pretty big show of emotion from his team mates?? I just got the feeling that there was a bit to it as if players knew it was his last game.
I would love to see some of those possible departures stay on, even if it is in a mentoring role at DL level next year.
In the forward line, I am really hoping SOS steps up again in 2014 and becomes a focal point in the forward half. IF Bonners does retire (and I hope not, because his efforts are one of the things I love about Port and it will be sad to see him go). We will need a mid 190cms key forward. That is going to be an area to address. Dale Whelan is about the mid 20s bracket. I'm not sure yet if he can take on the mantle as our big forward. Danny Hughes hasn't spent as much time forward in recent weeks, but hopefully he can present that second leading target a bit like Galea and Rose were in 2011.
Julian Rowe obviously has had a brilliant year and hopefully he continues on next year.
I thought last year that Skipper might decide to pull the pin. He's battled manfully again all year, frequently against much taller opposition.
Sam Gilmore 201cm, Pat McMahon 204cm and Chris Prowse 203cm are all relatively inexperienced ruckman. Another pre-season in the gym will be a must. I'd have thought Prowse has probably bulked up the most but Gilmore has shown he is able to be competitive even at this early stage in his career.
Midfield is where it's one and loss. This year we've had games where we have been well beaten out of the centr and across the middle of the ground. A large part of that is the large number of games missed by Valenti and Pinwill. Missing Baird stood out I thought against Williamstown. He might have lost a lot of his pace, but he is a good decision maker under pressure and his ability to feed off and hit targets with handball has been a real steadier for us.
Assuming we do lose a few of these players, it is probably the area that will need most attention in the off-season. We have had great run earlier in the season from Tom Gordon (who I think is a smoky for the draft). If he returns to that sort of form, he will be an automatic selection. If Cain goes as well, hopefully Robin Nahas does return to the club, as we will need someone who can run and carry.
If Toby Pinwill decides it's time to move on, we are going to need an extractor, or someone who can stand up in a tackle. I'm not sure if we have that quite yet, I'd like to see the 'Tank' in Raru or McKenzie perhaps, given some time during practice matches in this sort of role. It's a bit out of position and they'd give a lot away in height (I'd say about 10cms or so compared to Pinwill) but I'd like to see that experimented with. We need to recruit some experience for the middle.
5-18-25-29-39. Is what I feel may leave I hope I'm wrong.
Ben Perry can I think be a good 2nd ruck/chf option.
Player retention is vital and I'd be looking at improving the list be adding:
* 1 fast midfielder to compliment our good stoppage/clearence players.
* 1 rebounding defender (we lost alot of run without Brewer) and Id be going after Cam Richardson from North Melb. Really hoping that Tristan Francis can get over his hip issues.
* 1 small forward possibly Nahas or Milne.
You've just named the best players for the side. I can't imagine those player departing and us still being competitive. You will need to do some exceptional recruiting to replace the players mentioned and if it eventuates that these players leave then it would be hard to imagine us having a successfull 2014. I hope to be proven wrong!!!!

Has digs turned the corner and can i sence a small soft spot for Port ? DIGS HAS SEEN THE LIGHT!!!!
Mega, Digs was a Port supporter long before all you fanatics were born.
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
Burra, Ever thought of developing your own ??
Going on the past few posts I reckon that you are going to be up for at least a further 200K before you even start,
You'll be sending them out in wheelchairs.
I can tell you for a fact that the first person you need to retain is the COACH. Strong vibes that if his requests are not made he also will be on the 109.
I can hear you all saying "How does he know that"
All I can tell you is "Trust me""
Plenty of players developing at Port. You always need to add to your list though. We don't have the luxury of 10 AFL top ups each week who don't fall under the salary cap!
