Soinds amazing Robbo
What a way to win a flag!
Josh Bench from Wlliamstown won the medal for best on ground
I understand there was about 6 mins of sudden death time played before Willy got winning behind (last qtr 35:35)
I will have to get the video footage of this game. Worth a look for sure.
I think they've got to do away with this golden point concept. The senior competition uses a 5 minutes each way scenario for all tied finals, most metro and regional leagues also play extra time each way, so why is that not adopted in the Development League or TAC Cup - particularly for Grand Finals.
I believe it is to do with TV coverage needed to be started on time.
The DL game started at 10.45, what time did it finish? They could easily fit it in, on the rare occasion it happens. For the sake of fairness, extra time should be the way it's done. What if there is a howling breeze to one end?
amazing finish to this game, it doesn't seem fair to finish a season this way, surely 5 or 10 mins each way would be fairer but the ABC MUST finish at 5pm for some crap program that nobody cares about ....
The ABC tv coverage must finish so it can overload viewers with endless , boring self-promotions before putting actual programs on late instead of at advertised time. It came very close to chopping off Sunday's telecast due to not allowing adequate time for the match occurring delays to "normal" match times. ABC controllers in rugby-centric Sydney have no concept of the vagaries of FOOTBALL, which does not have strict times of play.
Here's an idea for the VFL. Start the Development League Grand Final 20 minutes earlier so an extra 5 minutes can be played each way in the event of a draw without affecting the start time of the Senior game.
I agree it's a joke to decide a Premiership by basically the toss of a coin. But those are the rules, everyone knew them. Apparently a couple of players in the game played in last year's TAC Cup Grand Final which was also decided by a golden point??
Williamstown are deserving Development League Premiers in 2013, but a fantastic effort once again by Box Hill's development team which stormed home from 38 points down late in the 3rd quarter to tie the scores at full time. That's 6 grand finals in a row for Box Hill and 7 in 8 years, including 4 Premierships. A fantastic achievement at any level of Football.
