Coburg Lions 2014 - The year ahead

Just wondering how people think the Lions will go this season?

Still no coaching announcement to my knowledge.

With the tigers they struggled so you would imagine without - they would also have a very difficult year. I predict bottom 3.

37 times Grand finalists
16 times premiers
21 times runners up - THE MIGHTY BOROUGH!

I'M PORT MELBURNE BORN,
I'M PORT MELBOURNE BRED,
I'LL BE PORT UNTIL I'M DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's hard to see Coburg Lions 2014 being much different to Bendigo Gold 2013.

Unlike Williamstown, which has spent all of this year getting VFL games into as many of its VFL listed players as possible, Coburg has no depth [Development Team won just 4 games this year]. Coburg is broke, which will make it very hard to recruit. Its supporter base would probably fit into one bus. It is yet to appoint a coach for 2014 and is advertising on its website for "expressions of interest" from players.

As things stand at present, there has to be real chance that Coburg won't be part of the VFL in 2014.

Unfortunately I think what Mustang has said could well be true, and end up being like a Bendigo 2013...it's going to be a very lopsided competition next year and beyond...

I hope Sandy start planning for 2016 starting now...Williamstown are the doing things the correct way to make a relatively seamless transition from aligned to stand alone

I certainly hope that Coburg isn't lost to the competition

Coburg will be playing in 2014 and they will be more competitive than Bendigo was in 2013. Yes it will be a struggle for the burgers but they do have the calder cannons, efl and old diamond valley area to recruit from as Carlton seconds won't touch any players from there. Finances will be a struggle but hope they can survive. Coburg have a lot of old ex players and committee men that are diehards and can help them off the field.
