!!!!So if Port finish top and earn a home final and there is no fence what happens? Does the VFL pay for temp. fencing?

So whatever happened to this? Will there be 24/7 access to north port oval or is that idea out the door?

Not out the door. Council wants the ground to be open to the public for use from next year I think. You can read a little bit about it on the clubs official Facebook page. Silly decision really as,if people want to have a kick they can go to Murphys. potential for vandalism if you leave the gates open.

The ground should be open for public use when Port aren't using it, absurd if it isn't.

Handy for the Williamstown President who will be able to walk his dog without interruption.

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

The ground will need to be resurfaced before its opened to the public or further games will be cancelled and transferred.

I'm concerned it will be very much like Whitten Oval, where homeless use it as shelter. Moreso that the EJ Whitten Stand, I think it's a big fire and safety risk.

Hang on, AFL training venues are open to the public when their clubs aren't using them, grounds like Frankston and Sandy are open to the public, why shouldn't North Port be?

It's not like there'll be a stampede of people using it, and if it does get overly muddy at some point close access to the playing surface, not that people will want to be out there anyway.

Suspicious fires destroyed Frankston grandstand and severely damaged Coburg's.

And the gates at Frankston are locked at night when the fire occurred.
