Camberwell v Preston 1982

Check below as the channel 0 highlights from a VFA game is listed. The date of this game is actually 11/4/1982 is listed as highlights ? This game would be only highlight footage as it was not televised.
I reckon there will be quite a few televised games from the channel 0 days that will have the atv10 Sunday news/sports with the VFA highlights and scores in the National Archives. There seems to be several news items listed from 1971 to 1974. Only have to find Sundays between the footy season and there will be bound to be some VFA highlights from the televised game with the VFA scores of the day.

VFA, could it be Prahran, not Preston ?

Either way, massive win for the Cobras - Preston flag favourites and Camberwell just promoted from Div 2. Is that the one where Chris Rourke goaled after the siren to win it for them ?

Most likely Preston as that was in April.
The eyewitness news items listed above could well and truly have some highlights from atv0 games televised with vfa scores from the day. There is many more from 1971 to 1974. I might oraganise through ACMI to view these at Federation Square one day. Might check the dates and picka few of the reels out and see what they actually do have. Maybe one day after work we can organise this JB. Definately worth a look ?

Billy,

one intersting eyewitness news report would be from the famous Oakleigh v Sandy relegation match. That would be worth having a look at. This would rate as the main highlight of the weekends sport. This would be in the archives for sure.
Plenty of fire on and off the field.

From memory Alfie Beus put Calcutt of Oakleigh on his Khyber quite a few times that day, mainly in the second quarter

He certainly did. To his credit Russell Colcott kept on playing despite getting decked a few times.
