Practice match - Collingwood v Port Melbourne 23/02/14

Beautiful weather for the first game of the year. I'm expecting an understrength Port side to be fielded as those players on the fringe get game time. Still looking forward to it though.

I hope that the defeat is not the reason it hasn't been reported here!

That scoreline looks about right, I had it slightly different, but only within a couple of points. It was the first time I've been to Olympic Park since Greyhounds raced there!

Unusual game, with Port Melbourne pretty much playing two separate squads in each half and Collingwood playing with an interchange of 8 from what I could see.

Both sides moved the ball well in patches and would be reasonably happy with where they are at for 2014. No team list provided for Port Melbourne so it was a bit of a mystery who was who with few recognisable faces.

I went to the old Olympic Park many times including the last ever meeting there which was dubbed 'The last bark at the Park'. The Silver Collar Bar was one place many drunks visited in the heyday of Greyhound Racing at Olympic Park.

Went along for a look, decent crowd with a few stopping by before heading next door to see the soccer.

Only 4 AFL listed players for Collingwood and Port played 2 squads for a half each which had a mixture of senior and development players.

Magner played the first half and thought he went ok. Marigilani also played that half of the game.

Yeah good turnout from the Port supporters I thought - nice tos e e them in their colours althugh only a friendly.

Cobra I think the score wasn;t reported here not because Port lost but more so because not many people were keeping track of the score and wouldn;t of known what it was at final siren as their was no scoreboard. (Also as it was a practie match some people left early and didnt stay to the end ).
