2014 VFL Season Predictions

What are your thoughts?

Premiers
Top 8
Wooden Spoon
Frosty Miller Medallist
JJ Listen Medallist

Here's mine:

Premiers: Williamstown

TOP 8
Williamstown
Port Melbourne
Richmond
Werribee
Frankston
Geelong
Box Hill
Collingwood

Frosty Miller: TBA
JJ Liston: TBA

I'm going to have a think about those over the next couple of days.

Big Jablonski

North port, question,
Premiers of 2013 to drop seven spots and second bottom richmond to third.
How do you work that out?
Box hill have improved recruiting wise and richmond haven't.
This for me beggars belief.
Richmond will be bottom 4 again.

Have belief for the path to victory has been well worn however seldom do we arrive at the destination.

1. Werribee (strong VFL list and good AFL mix with North and will be hard to beat)
2. Williamstown (will win flag in 150th year, their first as standalone since 1999)
3. Port Melbourne (big turnover but will be thereabouts again with Ayres magic)
4. Box Hill (hard to win back to back but will be up there again)
5. Frankston (will improve further and make the eight. One to watch in finals)
6. North Ballarat (too good to dismiss but probably not good enough for flag)
7. Casey (should sneak into eight)
8. Geelong (no flags for the cats but might sneak into eight)
9. Collingwood (will miss out of eight to the cats)
10. Essendon (will be like previous years an enigma and hard to predict)
11. Richmond (might improve slightly on Coburg's form last year)
12. Sandringham (lacks depth but should enjoy playing on resurfaced home ground)
13. Coburg (will be competitive and win a couple of games)
14. Bendigo (have done plenty of work on and off the ground. Improvers)
15. N.Blues (lost a lot of vfl talent and will struggle)
16. Footscray (spoon favourites)

Agree with Bullants on the goal kicking and premiers
Frosty Miller: Michael Lourey
Premiers: Williamstown

JJ Liston trophy
no idea, too early ??

Foxtel Cup winners
Williamstown

Biggest home and away crowd
A packed Punt Road for one of the vfl games where six thousand cram in like sardines

burraburger

1. Geelong
2. Port Melbourne
3. Werribee
4. Box Hill
5. Casey
6. Williamstown
7. Richmond
8. Frankston

Hawks & Cats both have depth from AFL level as well as solid VFL players so I can't see them dropping off too much this year. Werribee and Port will be hard to knock off at home and combined with enough wins away they should lock in a top 4 spot.
Although Willy have recruited better than most sides they had to as they can no longer rely on AFL players. It would take a mighty effort to go top 4 as a first year stand alone team.
I'd expect Frankston, Essendon and Nth Ballarat to be fighting for the last spot in the 8.

Burra,
Where have you all been hiding ??
Port second eh !! What do you base that unbiased prediction on ??
As VFA suggests maybe Garrry Ayres magic !!!

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

burraburger

Haha how are you digs? The red & blue in my eyes can fog my judgement at times but I've seen enough to suggest we will return to the top 4. Extremely happy with the list and depth is much better than 2012/13. Conan also has a new game plan in place!
Anything happing down Gold rush territory? You lads still fielding a team?

burraburger you will have to finally join the vfl tipping comp this year.
Will burraburger be a better tipster than Station Hotel ??

I'll send details for the 2014 VFL tipping comp in the next day or two. Paul Amy was the 2013 winner. More interest this year with two extra teams and an extra game each week to pick.

Will you finish ahead of the consistant Digs ?

Be alarmed, the're out of the woodwork once again.
It's been that quiet I thought the Port boys must have seen the light & realised that they are not as good as they think they are.

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

Premiers: Port Melbourne, but in the interests of not being seen as biased, second choice is Werribee.

Top 8
Werribee
Box Hill
Port Melbourne
Williamstown
Geelong
Richmond
Casey Scorpions
Frankston

Wooden Spoon:Footscray, Bendigo or Coburg they will be bottom 3, certainly.

Can't pick the medalists at this time, I'd like to see how the season starts off first.

Go Borough!
