Must agree Willy did look good at times and it may of been a different story had they of kicked well towards the grand stand end. If i'm not mistaken they kicked 2-13 at the grandstand end and at timed looked very good at getting the ball out of defense to their mid field.
37 times Grand finalists
16 times premiers
21 times runners up - THE MIGHTY BOROUGH!
I'M PORT MELBURNE BORN,
I'M PORT MELBOURNE BRED,
I'LL BE PORT UNTIL I'M DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let's not jump the gun here yet guys. Our boys still have further tests against last year's grand finalists in Box Hill and Geelong in the next month or so. Signs will look good if the boys can knock off Geelong at Geelong and Box Hill at Box Hill. Comparing the 2011 team to our current team is really a useless exercise at the moment as the season is incomplete and somewhere during the season I believe we will drop one or two games.
A lot of people think this week vs Bendigo will be a ugly scoreline, however I believe our boys will still be on a high after knocking the Seagulls at the paddock and I would reckon Bendigo would want to put on a better showing this week after the heavy defeat against the Doggies. My tip is a Port win by 48-72pts only.
Fair post by Burraman a month ago. I still wont say that this side is as good as 2011 however I'll predict that if Port wins this weekend they will go through the home and away undefeated.
Hope you are right MegaA. Fingers crossed for tomorrow vs Box Hill. 1st Port Melb vs 2nd Box Hill(I say that as Box Hill have a 4pt credit for Round 15 at moment,so really we are 1st clear by 2pts on top) Would love 2011 to repeat itself but cant see it happening,a very rare thing to happen.
Why not the whole season Mega ??
If Port do beat Box Hill today, don't get too ahead of yourself, Box Hill will field a far better side in the latter part of the season when all the Hawthorn players return from injury.
Don't forget also that you haven't played the Roosters yet who you have had trouble beating the last couple of seasons.
Thought you would like that one !!
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
Yep, one of the stranger predictions I have read in recent times! Lots of water to still go under the bridge.
Paul, As you would well know they do tend to get a little carried away.
Most of the AFL clubs will only get stronger later in the year towards the end of the season.
That's a massive call especially with away games at Geelong (havnt won there since 2010), Werribee and many other hurdles. No doubt other sides will get stronger as the season progresses. For Port I'd say we only really have 3 guys missing from our best line up and they will return in the back half of the year. Eddy, Connors & Michaeladis.
Dreaming is nice, but reality is one week at a time. Every game a big game in my book. Also recent weeks tells us goalkicking at Port Melbourne needs to be worked on. Recent weeks 17.20 and 10.25 is average kicking at best. As for tomorrow to be the best we need to beat the best at their ground for starters.
