What the hell happened? I got to the game half way through the second and north ballarat hadn't kicked a goal??

Obviously good to see Port get a win but what does this day about the comp? Does it bode well for port against box hill next week? With Hawthorns good showing tonight you'd expect a better performance from them? How would port cope against a side that actually started well?

On a better note, good crowd and a nice spring day at north port.

And then I went on a pub crawl around port melbourne for my birthday. Saw a bit of history.

There's a bloody lot of pubs in Port !!!
Apart from the game & the result it was indeed a very enjoyable day at Port believe it or not.
Was a guest at the President's lunch who is definitely Bernie Quinlan look alike but he reckons he can kick further. He reads whats on this site & could well be a closet poster like a few other contributors.
Met the great Freddie Cook & purchased his book which was launched by Sam Newman. Whats happened to Sam's head ??
They have done some great work around the ground & its great to have some level ground to walk on instead of having to negotiate the peaks & troughs.
The new social club looks sensational & the Port faithful now have something to be very proud of. Might turn out to be the BEST in the competition.
Great to catch up with the Borough faithful who are still very passionate & bloody one eyed who wanted to kick 40 goals. Might have if they'd kicked straight. !!

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

Digs, was great to finally meet you in the flesh. We are a very welcoming lot at North Port and enjoy a little bit of banter and sledging. Hopefully we draw your boys in 2015 up at North Ballarat and we can catch up again up there. Good luck this weekend against Werribee too. See you during the finals series hopefully.

Cheers,
Lauschie

P.S Love your idea of building a Fred Cook statute at the gates of North Port Oval.

Always good to have a chat with you Digs. Were only one eyed on the weekend, good luck in the finals! As we all know a week is a long time in football.

Nearly forgot...Scrolling electric signs facing Williamstown Road traffic claimed the match was to be played on Saturday August 21st. That will be in 2021.

Heath - I thought that the crowd was slightly down. Estimate was around 1,000 which is slightly down on Ports average. Good size crowd to turn up this Saturday I say over 2k.

Digs mentioned the quanity of Port pubs - at one time it has the most in Melbourne - we have lost a few though which have become cafe's or just closed due to the changing Port Melbourne demographic. For once I agree with you (regarding the bias and passion of the Port supporters) - most coaches say this is a very proud club when they come to Port.

37 times Grand finalists
16 times premiers
21 times runners up - THE MIGHTY BOROUGH!
