The famous Frankston Hill welcomes aboard new president called Brad Hill and coach Patrick Hill.

Having a big name doesn't automatically equate to success. History has proven that be it VFL, AFL or VFA that being in a strong system of a successful club teaches the assistants how to generate a winning culture.I think you'll find that, dependent on Frankston retaining their good players and recruiting what they lack in, they may surprise you over the next couple of years. Did anyone know much about Gerard Fitzgerald before he took over the reins at North Ballarat. On the other side of things look at guys like Tim Watson & James Hird, who have/had no idea.

Fitzy would be delighted to be included in that bracket Dazza.
Although I believe that Goosey deserved another year, it is important to put your own stamp on your club & big names don't always deliver. There are a couple of VFL clubs that will attest to that.

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

Take it from me the club had to make a change, they had little choice really. Goose put a heap of effort and passion into it over five years, did a number of things right but couldn't convert that to wins for a number of reasons.

I have lots of respect for Simon, he's a great fella, he put his heart into it and I wish the club had treated him much much better in this whole situation, but the list the past two years was definitely better than 10 wins in total.

The club has certainly taken a big punt on someone who hasn't coached and is unknown to a playing group being chased by cashed-up clubs everywhere, but I hear they were very impressed with his presentation and his grooming under Damian Carroll.

As people have said previously, a name doesn't always deliver, so hopefully the club has found a diamond in the rough who can deliver on his vision.

True there has been heap of duds with big names that have failed to deliver as coaches. Shannon Grant would take the cake.
Best of luck to Patrick Hill. If he succeeds he will be well known in VFL and footy circles.
Simon Goosey is a terrific bloke that put in heaps of work. Just a pity he could not get one more year at Frankston and a finals appearance for his efforts.

I'm sure they know Patrick Hill pretty well at Box Hill and he would have learnt a fair bit in his years there from Damien Carroll, Marco Bello and Brendan Bolton.

Who were the other candidates ?
I thought Goosey deserved another year at least. Not very far off in a lot of games and has put in the hard yards on and off the field.
Did they try to get Aaron Edwards for 2015? Frankston Pines must be playing plenty of $$ or do they pay by the slabs ?

Hopefully Patrick Hill can also recruit a few decent players to Kars Street.

Mail around the traps is Edwards signed with Pines for 2 years and being paid $55k

Edwards will rip them apart in the PFL I always though he was one of those unlucky players wrong clubs at the wrong.

He is also not quite big enough for a key position in the AFL time and not quick enough elsewhere on the ground.

I would love to have him at Sandy as I suspect he would still be a star at VFL level.

Has Sandy got a spare $56k???

I doubt it! But he is the type of player that would be needed when the Zebras go it alone
BTW where does a club like the Pines get that sort of money for one player?Do they have a pokie outlet?
